My Dad has a slice across his pupil. Whats likely to happen to him?

He did it on a tree at work Been to A&E this mornin and the Doc gave him cream and said to see how it goes for 24 hours.

Well, if it's any help my cat did this (scrapping with another cat) and he had some cream and it was fine

The main issue is the risk of infection - presumably he has been given antibiotic cream.

It must be so painful - I once got a tiny speck of metal in my eye and it was unbearable. A&E sorted me out with anaesthetic and antibiotics. I did have to go for a followup to the eye clinic a week later to check that all was well. At future optician visits, they always commented on the scar in my eye which I had long forgotten about.

If it helps, part of laser eye surgery involves slicing a layer of your eye and from personal experience I can tell you it heals pretty quickly. Obviously there's a difference between surgery and accidentally cutting your eye, but I hope you see what I'm getting at! Hope your dad feels better soon btw.
