Can anyone please help me?

Woke up yesterday with really itch hands, within 15 mins my palms were bright red & inbetween my fingers had tiny little 'blisters' in them.

This morning i have woken up & they are quite swollen & the redness has spread to all over both palms & the whole of my fingers.

They are incredible itchy & i havent slept much at all because of the itching.

I have put Eurax on them but they still feel itchy.

I havent used any new cleaners in the house, soap, hand cream, nothing, does anyone know what it could be?

Hives?
I have hives, have had it now for nearly 18 months, and whenever i get itchy, the area gets red and swells and has bright white patches where I am scratching.
I'd get some antihistamines for it and see the gp, maybe they can do some blood tests and make sure it's not connected to anything else.

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 07:51

My hands look like they have been scalded in really hot water.

What are hives? I am working later so i will ask our pharmacist what she thinks it could be,this itching is driving me mad, forgot to mention that my feet were itching in bed last night but they are ok this morning.

There's this
Does it look like that at all? But I also get whilte raised lines where I have scratched.

belgo · 13/06/2010 07:59

Scabies?

Heat bumps? (I get them and they drive me mad with itching)

Are you pregnant?

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 08:05

No doesnt look like hives, they are bright red all over my palms & in between my fingers upto my first knuckle.

In between my fingers there are litle rasied white bumps.

No def not preg.

I get heat bumps that sound exactly the same, but I've had them since I was a child.

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 08:09

What do you use on them,i hardly slept at all last night cos of the itching.

What about this?
I've had this. Not nice

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 08:17

No doesnt look like that either.

I was also thinking scabies, that typically start on the hands and spread very quickly on the rest of the body apart from the face.

Then I read her feet are itching too, but now itching in between, and that doesn't make much sense for it to be scabies.

I'm not convinced it's heat bumps either.

I know there is a liver condition during pregnancy that causing itching on hands and feet.

I think the most likely cause is an allergy or heat bumps.

I would see your GP if it continues tomorrow.

SilveryMoon · 13/06/2010 08:19

Yes belgo I had the pregnancy thing when carrying ds2, and I still have the itching 16 months later.
i have had blood tests and my liver count is slightly low, but they are not concerned and are happy for me to live with the itch so i pop antihistamines like smarties!

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 08:21

Thanks for your advice & help,i will see my GP if it continues, luckily i am working later so i will ask our pharmacist what they think it is.

Thanks again.

Watching this thread with interest.
I get exactly what you're describing on my hands as soon as the weather starts to warm up. Then it turns into a sort of scabby hard skin but still really itchy and sore. I've seent he doctor a few times and been given steroid cream which does makes it slightly better but still no idea what it is! It's also a little bit on my toes! Interested to see what you find out.

Google prickly heat.

belgo · 13/06/2010 08:31

don't google the images though!

CwtchyBlueMama · 13/06/2010 17:32

Asked pharmacist & she told me it could be a virus,so i have bought some anti-histamines & it seems to have helped with the redness & itchiness.

had to take my rings off though cos my fingers swelled so much.

Yes, lots of skin rashes and itchyness can be connected to virus's. But, if it goes on for longer than a few days/week, I'd go to the gp to make sure it isn't anything more serious.

Just wondered if you might have handled something that caused a reaction? (A weed or something?)
