Bleeding from behind before period

paininthea · 11/06/2010 10:04

Every month before my period I get some bleeding from my back passage after I've been to the loo. I have been diarising when it happens as I have noticed a trend. I have had investigations for piles and none have been found. I had DD naturally and I have had problems since then. I since had DS by EMCS and I think I am worse down below. Can anyone help? I am going to make an appointment to see my gp but this will be next week now. TIA

Did the bleeding start after you had DD? Did you have a tear after you gave birth? I had a 3rd degree tear after DS and had problems with fissures afterwards for a long long time (bleeding and pain).

Thank you for replying Nellybell - DD was born over 5 years ago and I am only just getting around to dealing with this! How long exactly did this go on for with you? I am going to google fissures now and see if it fits.

I had a "bad 2nd degree tear". I have a suspician the tear was worse than they thought at the time. I also have some issues with incontinence and I wonder if this is all related.

I'm sure I read something about endometreosis (sp?) causing bleeding from behind

Not sure googling is a good plan though - don't scare yourself!

suspicion!

Mmm may be not! I think I need to get this checked out. I have mentioned it to the GP and she sort of brushes it away with a "it's probably piles" but yet everytime they check there is nothing there. She has asked me to come to the surgery when it is happening but that is just not possible with a job and 2 dc to drop off / pick up.

Nellybell - shoul dhave asked when you were suffering did you bleed at any particular time? was there pain? (I don't have pain although I have bloating and have had some discomfort)

DS is nearly 4 now and at the beginning it was every time I had a no 2 and was excuciating. Got better gradually with time and became less frequent but could flare up every month or so for the first 18 months and can still happen now sometimes if slightly constipated although pain is less now. I went to dr and hospital but they couldn't find anything, they looked for piles. When it happens now, it is always in the same place like its a weak spot. I know the incontinence issue is something the drs are concerned about after bad tears.

Nellybell · 11/06/2010 11:51

Yes, nearly always pain and bleeding with every no 2. Did you find out more about endometriosis as well?

paininthea · 11/06/2010 12:28

Yes and it sounds like it can't be ruled out. I think there is some poking about in my nether regions to be done! The joys...

I have recently had ultrasound scans for ovarian cysts so there is something going on. I think I may have to invoke my BUPA and get things moving.

Thanks all.

It could well be related to DDs birth, some women do have rectal and incontinence problems post giving birth.

Did no-one actually advise you to get such a problem further investigated at your six week check?. If you had a bad second degree tear which was not properly dealt with at the time this may be what is causing all the problems now.

Do not be brushed off by the GP, you need an urgent referral to a gyane for further evaluation. You should not have to put up with such problems. It may come to pass that further surgery is required to deal with the problem effectively.

You will need to be persistant in order to get answers. Good luck!!.
