I think it is my whole body that is going in the tunnel so do I need to take off my jewellery? Will I stay in my clothes or will I have to wear a hospital gown? Will I be okay to drive myself home afterwards?

TIA.

Thanks. They running an hour late so I had a bit of a wait. Luckily I took my new book which had me hooked by page two.

The actual MRI was horrible tbh. My back went as I laid down and then I had something round my head and neck to keep me still, the head phones on and something on my chest. I shut my eyes as I went in and kept them shut. It was bad enough opening them a bit as I was coming out. It took 25 minutes and I have to wait 2 weeks for the results.

Fab I had an MRI scan recently too. I'm anxiously waiting for the results - I want to call them up and just get them to tell me what they found, but I don't think they will tell me anything! It's been so reassuring the read other peoples' experiences of having scans, I feel like a freak of nature with so many investigations all the time. My recent MRI was to see if I've been having TIAs (mini-strokes) as I have a hole in my heart called a PFO. TBH I'm crapping myself about the results as a positive scan would mean heart surgery...

What have others on here had their MRIs for?

You can't have any metal on you, so no jewllery or body piercings. They give you a bag to put them in.

It makes a loud banging noise, a bit strange but they give you a chopice of music to play on the headphones so it sort of sounds like someone's kids banging the wall next door.

If you have an entire body scan it can be quite claustrphobic so I just shut my eyes and hummed with the music, then started making shoping lists in my head. They do break over the musci through the headphones to tell yuo what is going on every 5 mins or so, but it is very odd and if you get an itchy foot or leg, well, you have to live with it!

DH loved my scan as he got a change to talk about electro magnetic frequencies with the man who was operating it.

Oh, and the operators will talk to you as if you are 6 so saying "I have a degree in physics and work in EMC" or similar will stop them talking down to you.

My MRI was for brain tumour and also MS, and then I had one for my back...do ask to see the scans afterwards, they are fascinating.

fab, hope you are ok, sorry it was horrible, it's over! what a long wait for the results
