Anyone with fibroids?

I have had fibroids for several years - I have at least one big one. Decided after much deliberation to do nothing as my periods became less heavy and anaemia was handled with iron.

Also I absolutely do not want a hysterectomy though did consider a myomectomy. Both of course major surgery with six weeks convalescence and I am lp with no family near so no-one to help out.

Went to gps today on another matter and was weighed - whilst I haven't put on weight in last six months (tho do need to lose weight) my upper abdomen and stomach are really bloated and hard for alot of the time.

Wondered if the fibroids have grown bigger and are started to bulk my abdomen out more.

Has anyone had surgery for fibroids and did you notice any flattening of stomach/less bloating/feeling of bulk after?

Have also made appt with gp in a few weeks to discuss fibroids again - hope to be referred for rescan and gynae - I feel though they will try to steer me towards hysterectomy.

i had an hysterctomy for fibroids but in my case, after i had the operation (which was the best thing i ever did due to really bad periods every 11 days!), i developed cysts growing into the womb area. get loads of advice before doing anything

Thanks Rowlshar - did you notice less bulk in your abdomen after the op? God periods every 11 days sounds horrendous.

And also can I ask roughly what age you are?

I'm mid forties and don't want any more children.
