Sore tongue - possibly ulcers

I have a very sore tongue, but it's too far back to see what it looks like. It's either ulcers or a cut caused by an uneven tooth, possibly worsened by eating pineapple yesterday.

It's too far back to put cream on it without gagging, so I've bought some TCP. But what do I do with it - gargle with it neat?

It's really sore, and DH is away so I'm felling stupidly pathetic.

Mix it with some water and gargle with it - mouthwash works just as well though.

Sounds like strep throat if you have ulcers. It will go on it's own. Avoid spicy foods.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. I did that, and it feels a bit better now. Tastes disgusting though!

Yes I did this for ages before I realised mouthwash was just as good and didn't leave your mouth feeling like a municipal urinal!

Just in case it lingers, ds1 has had an ulcerated tongue for about a month, at the back on one side. I need to take him for a blood test as it's according to the GP a sign of anaemia. We're going after school tonight.

If it doesn't heal ,get it checked out .
My brother's GP prescribed antiobotics for a long lasting ulcer at back of tongue .
Fortunately brother then asked dentist who sent him for a biospy which resulted in cancer diagnosis .
And personally I'd recommend using goldenseal tincture - you add to water ,gargle and swallow .
But not everyone believes me - brother thinks I'm a hippy and won't take my advice!
