Hi choclab

mmid cycle pain and egg white discharge is very very normal - it is actually a sign many women look for when trying to determine their time of ovulation for ttc.

Period also sounds normal, prior to having DD my periods were very heavey for the first 2 days then normal for about 5 days and then 1 day spotting etc

I think many women get bloating, particulary in the evening and if you have been diagnosed with IBS then you will be more prone. And I suspect you know that anxiety will only make the digestive problems a little bit exaggerated - I'm a little bit prone to anxiety myself so I understand!

Please try not to worry about this, I have seen previous posts where you have been concerned for your health and I wonder if you would be better focused on trying to get some support to relieve some of this anxiety. I know it can be very draining

choclab · 08/06/2010 19:23

thank you tothymamma ,

your very kind , and yes im on here alot with health anxiety , and right now i have alot of stress and worry .(another thread im on )

thank you for advice and answering my questions , i did go to doc 3 weeks ago who i told these symptoms , she said nothing is ringing alarm bells ..so not to worry .

its the bloating that has worried me most , but it does go down a bit by morning so i guess thats a good sign ..

thanks again .

i get the egg white stuff from day 10 roughly for a few days , is this ok ? its not exactly 14 days , but my cycle is usually 24/25/sometimes 26 day cycle ..

Hello choclab

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about. Your periods, ovulation pain and discharge sound totally normal.

Wrt the bloating- could you try eating different foods? I guess you know what's better for you as you have a diagnosis of IBS.

I wouldn't make any catastrophic assumptions- if you only get bloated in the evening it would seem something to do with a bit dodgy digestion (due to IBS).

Are you on ADs yet?

tothymammysing · 08/06/2010 19:38

I usually ovulate on day 11 of my cycle and sometimes get pains, sometimes not. I always have discharge as you describe for about 2-3 days.

The bloating really does seem related to your IBS. Peppermint tea helps my bloating, so you could maybe try that.

choclab · 08/06/2010 19:51

thank you winny and tothymama,

reassuring that you have similar going on , specially the ovulation time ..10/11 day thing ..

i should maybe keep note of my foods im eating ,

and no winny not taken AD yet ....

still to worried about it .

If you are worried about taking ADs (and I don't think you necessarily should be but I know that many people are concerned about side effects etc) have you tried any form of therapy or self help type stuff to help with the anxiety?

winnybella · 08/06/2010 20:00

oh choclab, please, give it a try...

I know it's not the same thing, but I've never been on the oral contraception before (didn't like the idea of putting hormons in my body, side effects) but I decided to bite the bullet and started to take cerazette. I do have some side effects but I can deal with them and am waiting to see if they'll pass.

Ok, I know, I know, perhaps not the best comparison, but the worst thing that can happen would be you feeling shitty on them and stopping.

choclab · 08/06/2010 20:01

yes have tried many things , am waiting to get some CBT from doctors but was told 9 month waiting list ..so looking for some priviate ..

do you have anxiety to

OP posts:
winnybella · 08/06/2010 20:03

oh and choclab, not only do I get some ovulation discomfort, but also some slight pain on one side at other times of the month...apparently that can functional cysts bursting etc...was just for a check up, had scan, smear etc and all's fine...just saying in case you're worried about any other stuff!

tothymammysing · 08/06/2010 20:13

If you are looking for private CBT you can find accredited CBT Therapists via the BABCP website cbtregisteruk.com/

I do struggle with anxiety. I had thought I'd resolved it but I've recently had another 'episode' so I will be seeking some support after my holiday next week.

I hope you find a way through yours. Maybe you should try those ADs if you are feeling really bad. Even if you get side effects you could stop them. i know some people have to try a couple before they find one that suits them.

beautifulgirls · 08/06/2010 20:17

Realistically there is a good chance this is just hormonal bloating or the IBS but please go and see your GP to get this checked out. Don't feel bad for wasting their time. There are other sometimes worrying reasons for this happening and whilst these are the minority I would hate to think you have posted here with a question and no-one directed you to get checked out properly. Please don't sit there and worry now about this, just call your doctor tomorrow and make an appointment and visualise yourself getting a check over and being reassured most likely.

tothymammysing · 08/06/2010 20:21

I absolutely wouldn't want anyone to not get checked out if they have symptoms that concern them, but I think choclabs has already been to see her GP re this about 3 weeks ago?

choclab · 08/06/2010 20:41

thanks all ,

this has been an on going issue iv had this for some time and have raised concerns to doc only 3 weeks ago ,she said she wasnt concerned ,as nothing i was saying was ringing alarm bells ... i also have had FBC liver, thyroid the lot checked in feb all came back fine .
i also had a pelvic internal scan same time as my IBS was diagnosed 2 years ago , i had same symptoms then as i do now , which i had a flex sygmoidoscopy to discover this .

i am worried but knowing others have had similar reasures me a bit .

maybe i should go back to docs ..oh i dont know ...

choclab - if you don't mind me asking how long have you suffered with anxiety? If it has been some years, you will have likely forgotten what it feels like to not be anxious. Which is a huge shame.

I really hope you get some relief from it - do you live in the NW at all as I could point you in the direction of some helpful organisations if you do.

choclab · 08/06/2010 20:52

have suffered with anx for around almost 3 years i guess, seems like forever ..

i have good and bad days /patches really ...

i live in east but thanks for trying to help .

You say you have had lots of tests. Did they test you for Coeliac Disease? My son used to have a hugely swollen stomach by the end of the day before he was diagnosed.

choclab · 09/06/2010 13:48

thanks booner ,

no no test for that ass such i dont think , just a host of bloods done at time .

OP posts:
Booner · 09/06/2010 15:02

I think it would be worth asking for it just to rule it out. I was at the Allergy show a couple of weeks ago and they said IBS should only be diagnosed after all tests had been completed including one for Coeliac Disease. They can do a blood test for Coeliac Disease in the first instance.

choclab · 09/06/2010 15:25

i may have had blood test i think , when they did others plus had sygmoidoscopy done

i booked to see doctor again tomorrow so will mention to him , plus maybe ask about referal scan again ..

Had to pop in when I saw this was you (((hug))).

I'm sorry you are still worrying about all this. I hope the gp is able to reassure you tomorrow. I think you need to have a chat reguarding the ADs with your gp tomorrow and tell them just how worried you are about taking them

choclab · 09/06/2010 20:04

thanks blissa ..x
