feeling sick and dizzy - what is it?

Hi all. I'm getting a bit anxious about my health at the moment. Go easy on me please and don't say anything too frightening because I do have some health anxiety.

I haven't felt that well for about a month but to be fair I haven't been getting much sleep. New relationship so going to bed late and I don't sleep well anyway. So I've been feeling very very tired anyway.

However, a month ago I had a couple of days off work with feeling sick and nauseous but wasn't actually sick. This passed and now for the last 4 days I have been feeling really sick and a bit dizzy. Almost like a feeling of unreality and a bit unsteady on my feet (but not to the point of falling over). I just feel awful and can't do much. Yesterday, I got up and felt like I was going to pass out and had to lie down. Today has been the worst day and I really do feel very sick.

I have bought a pregnancy test but haven't done it yet but really don't think this is what it is as I have a coil fitted. Don't have any other preg symptoms.

Has anyone else had this or does anyone know what it could be?

Many thanks for taking the time to look at this.

Thanks choc. I do wonder how much of this is anxiety. I've been feeling a bit wobbly of late with all the changes going on and am actually feeling much better tonight.

Don't know though - I'm hoping it's just a virus or something.

Hope you're ok too and thanks for the advice.

Hi Herbie, thanks for the link. I don't really feel any spinning sensations, just generally dizzy and light headed. Could be though I guess. I need to go to the doctor I think. Hate feeling sick like this.

Hi, I suffered from the same thing. I too suffer from anxiety. I went to the Dr and had high blood pressure and excess stomach acid. It was the acid causing the sickness. I was given prozac and rantadine. I am ok now. You need to see your Dr. Hope it improves soon.

You should talk to your doctor. There are a lot of conditions - many of them quite easily treated - that can result in the symptoms you describe. If your diet is poor, for example, and your balance of nutrition (especially iron and c-vitamins) is off then you can feel very tired and dizzy. This article on a depression relief diet has more examples of how food choices can affect mood. Hypoclycaemia, low blood-pressure, simple fatigue (lack of sleep)...and many more besides could all be possible.

But do see your doctor as soon as possible rather than guessing.

Can I ask is it around the time you ovulate or have a period?

Around the same time each month?
