Mucous in Poo (sorry, TMI!)

I have noticed that when I poo, there is always mucous floating around in the toilet bowl. It is cloudy, and thin but definitely there.

What does it mean? Is it dangerous?

Is it possibly ulcerative colitis?

Best see your GP...

I get this. It first started when I started to get IBS symptoms - I was having alternate diarrhoea and constipation. I went to see the doctor who made me give stool samples which were sent away to be tested. They came back negative, and the doctor said the mucus was probably just because of the IBS. I notice it gets worse when I'm suffering with constipation.

Definitely worth getting it checked out but it's probably harmless.

Could be a sign of coeliac disease.

My friend had the same issue and since she has cut out gluten from her diet she has not had any problems.

If your feeling fine then there is absolutely no reason to mention coeliac or colitis.

I thought everyone had this now and again I do. I'm prone to IBS or slightly sensitive bowel. Also depend on your diet and your bowels can change with temperature.

Is colitis or coeliac thingy related to the gall baldder? [distinct lack of biological knowledge emoticon]
