Coil questions

I've had a coil for 5 months now and my periods are starting to get lighter and more regular. I'm not sure how much the irregularity has been to do with the coil or coming off the pill.

I have been getting a lot of pain during my periods though. During the first two days (not necessarily the heaviest days) every few hours I get really bad pain in the right side which makes me want to rip my uterus out, then after about 15 seconds I get a hot sensation in the same place which then fades. A few minutes later I get pain then heat again. This goes on for about 20-30 minutes at a time then the pain will go for a few hours and we start again. Does anyone else get this and if so did it settle down as your body got used to having a coil?

I had the coil in for 10 years and although it made my periods heavier and more painful, the pain was never as you have described.

If I were you I would speak to the clinic where you had the coil put in and if need be ask them to change it. You may not be suited to it.

Do you think it might be too big and thats why I'm getting the pain? Or could it be related to not having been pregnant? (Forgot to mention that in OP)

I'm reluctant to have another one put in as the pain was so bad getting this one, I feel like I should give it more time to 'settle down'.
