Tearing upwards in labour

I had a graze last week which mw said didn't require stitching. I didn't really ask details, just assumed it was a bit of a scuff, although it stung a lot. Had a feel down there last night as I realised my perineum was intact, and was rather horrified to find that it feels like a deep split from vagina upwards to clitoris.

I didn't even know you could tear upwards! Does anybody have experience of a tear there? Will it heal up? I'm scared to look.

I had a sideways tear, was stitched but they came out, has healed fine albeit more frilly than previously, if you are concerned, pls ask midwife, kind of wish I had as now have 1 intact labia (singular??) and one torn in 2.

This happened to me with my third, I wouldn't have know anything about it if I hadn't looked after I got shower gel in it and it stung like hell, mine has healed up but has left two small holes where the tear didn't meet.

TBH I wish I hadn't looked, I would have been blissfully ignorant to the wreck that is my undercarriage!

Have a chat with your GP/HV/MW if you're concerned though.
