Bleeding after sex??

Anyone know of a common reason why you would bleed slightly after sex? It's only a recent thing and the bleeding is only slight.

Any info would be fab. Thanx!

Cervical erosion?

It needs investigating, I'm afraid.

ImSoNotTelling · 28/05/2010 15:51

Ouch

I think you need to get to the doc

smallorange · 28/05/2010 15:52

See your GP

RGPargy · 28/05/2010 15:53

Just made an appointment - it's for THREE WEEKS time.

Blimey that's a hell of a long time away. Just to see your GP?

I thought mine was shit.

BitOfFun · 28/05/2010 16:05

It's unlikely to be an emergency though. I wouldn't worry, but DO go.

RGPargy · 28/05/2010 16:29

My surgery is a joke. I am always waiting 3 weeks to see a doctor. I have just phoned up a more local (to me) surgery and they have told me that they normally see people within 24 hours (!!) so i am changing to them next week.

BitOfFun · 28/05/2010 16:40

That does sound more normal.

ImSoNotTelling · 28/05/2010 17:21

Good move RG, vote with your feet.

BelaLugosiNoir · 28/05/2010 22:21

Erosion is also known as an ectropian or ectropion. See thisthread
See GP and they will check it out, might be due to infection, hormonal changes lots of things.

RGPargy · 29/05/2010 00:28

Thanx for your replies ladies. The linky doesn't work, btw.

Will let you know how i get on next week lol.

Cervical erosion is no big deal. I had it a few years ago and (admittedly after a bit of faffing and 3 outpatient appointments, ideally would only take one) I'm all fixed now

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2010 09:28

Are you on the contraceptive pill?
I had slight bleeding after sex once & it turned out to be pill related. Also, if your period is due soon, sex can trigger a small bleed.
Best get it checked out though as could well be a cervical erosion if it keeps happening.

BelaLugosiNoir · 29/05/2010 12:51

Thread must have been in chat sorry. Have copied from my answer on another thread:
Ectropion/ectropian/erosion is a normal physiological process/condition. It's where the cervical 'skin' is really thin and the blood vessels are close to the surface. so this area bleeds easier and gets inflammed easily too.

RGPargy · 29/05/2010 16:10

Thanx Amelia

Pinkchampagne - no, i'm on the coil (nova T). I am due on soon, next week in fact, so maybe that has something to do with it, but if i recall it happens most of the time, albeit hardly any bleeding and only when i wipe.

Bela - thanx for the answer. Has eased my mind!

BelaLugosiNoir · 29/05/2010 21:30

Hi
It could be the coil threads have moved slightly and are irritating the cervix. Hope the appointment goes well.

RGPargy · 30/05/2010 20:49

Oh that's a point, Bela.

TOM has now appeared tho so looks like i wont be able to see the doc until after i get back from my holiday.

BelaLugosiNoir · 31/05/2010 12:41

Well definitely make an appointment to get it checked out for afterwards.

clarebear1 · 31/05/2010 18:59

This was the same as me a few months ago and started panicing. Had a swab but when she was up there she noticed cervical erosion, its not major so nothing to worry about. Can get worse and have something done to it to help tho. Pill can cause this.
