Hi

I got my period, only the 2nd since I had ds in jan, a week last sat and its still going. I'm so tired and miserable. I started the pill the day I got it, and haven't missed a day or anything. Is this ok? Was going to see gp but don't want to waste their time but I feel wiped out (that may be having a 2.2 and 5 mth old though!) Any advice ladies?

You are not wasting their time by going to the GP!!!. Please make an appt asap, any such changes in bleeding should be noted to them asap.

Heavy bleeding like this may be due to fibroids. If the GP is unsure of the cause ask for a referral to a gynae.

Is the pill you are on cerazette by any chance? This happened to me on that. Went back to the family planning clinic and they said "Oh just wait for it to settle down" was still bleeding a week later so went to the GP who said "No wonder you're so pale, you're probably anaemic, stop taking it at once!"

Yes definitely go to the GP. It's not wasting their time at all! If you are anaemic they might prescribe you an iron supplement for the short term.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I've been lying down for the past few hours I'm so wrecked. I prob have no chance of seeing someone before the weekend at this stage. The pill I'm on is Cilest, have been on it years on and off, and never had any probs before. It's not heavy now, but constant just the same.

Are you sure you can't get an appointment with the GP tomorrow? It sounds a bit worrying if you are feeling so wrecked.

If you really can't see the GP can you get some spatone or something to try and boost your iron levels a bit? I still don't think you should ignore this but it might help with the tiredness in the meantime.

My friend had exactly this - no pain, just ongoing bleeding. It turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. Pregancy test was negative too. Is there any chance you could be pregnant?

Gosh brown paper I don't see how.. I always know when I'm ovulating and was extra careful around that tume plus we aren't exactly at it like rabbits I went to gp this morning - thanks for advice bertieb, and he wasnt overly concerned. Took bp and pulse and felt tummy. He gave me prescription to stop the bleeding and told me to keep taking the pill as normal.
