I suffer with health anx ...

i have bloated tummy almost all the time have had for ages (focusing in on it all the time now )
Had series of tests 2 years ago , flex sygmoidoscopy , and pelvic scan , was diagnosed with IBS.

Lately keep worrying about bloating ....could it be something els ? no real pains only ones like i do get with IBS left hand trapped wind pains .

tummy bit flatter in morning , but come PM before bed im huge ...

i have noticed iv put on a bit of weigh in winter as summer clothes bit tight now ...
maybe thats it and iv just put on a bit and notice more as trying to wear different clothing ...

basically im worried i may have something bad going on ...OC , BC SC to name a few things ...
Have had FBC done in Feb liver etc , all came back fine ..

should i go back ? or am i just being a hypercondriact AGAIN ...

thanks for listening

Hi Choc you have my sympathy, I am the same. I have been to the docs more times than I can remember over the last 2yrs with abdominal pain, same place, right hand side, I know its bowel related, its sore 99% of the time. Docs have examined me, pelvic scan, bariun enema, ct scan a year ago, all fine, so like you they say ibs, it just never goes away. They all put it down to stress as , hate to mention this word, my husband has been fighting bowel/liver cancer for 2 yrs, in fact we go for his latest very important scan result tomorrow after his last chemo, I am dreading it. In the back of my mind I am scared they have missed something, was back at the docs 4 weeks ago, and she has put me on citalopram, an anti depressant, even though I know I am not depressed, the pain is the same! So not sure where to go from here, I should have faith in what they say, I need a test, a good relaxing holiday, someone to have the three kids and no stress!

Hi Choc.....I have only been on it for 5 weeks, in the beginning I thought the ibs was better, but last week it was really sore, today its alot better yet today I am worried sick so there seems to be no rhyme or reason. I think fron what others have told me you don`t start to feel the benefit for about 6 weeks? I am calmer with the kids, so I suppose they must be helping. I am on 10mg, I think thats the lowest dose, what are you on? Must go, kids just gone to school, masses of washing, DH jumped out of bed at 6am, he has an ileostomy bag, it leaked right thru to the mattress, only hope the day gets better!

choclab · 27/05/2010 09:05

hi ,
I havent yet started mine yet ... but have been given same dose as you , have you had any side effects ? heard so many good and bad ones ... keep thunking i can cope and will shake this off ...(anxiety)
my gastro Doc i call him my (bum man ) lol ... said the iBS is all stress related and anxiety is a huge part of it all effecting the neurvouse system .iv kind of got used to it all now , and have accepted this is now normal for me ... for me the healthy i eat the worst my IBS is ... ie. lots of fruite and veg ... strange .. so i just add a little and limit other goodies .

I hope your day improves and you get good news later ..

take care x

Hi all, Just wanted to check that you had all been tested for Coeliac Disease.

I was at the Allergy and Gluten Free Show last weekend and the lady from Coeliac UK said that there is a NICE guideline that IBS should ONLY be diagnosed after all other test have been taken including for Coeliac Disease

Hi, thank Choccy, good and bad news. The tumour on the liver has shrunk by 50% which is brilliant, but the team at Kings want more so they have suggested Harry has another 4 cycles of chemo, takes us thru to Aug. Then it will be liver surgery to remove the tumour. They have also said that what they saw in the left lung is cancer, they thought it was an infection, so not so good. So we battle on.........so need a holiday but no chance now, kids coping but its very hard. I have been tested for Coeliac, my ibs seems not so sore today, but it never seems to completely go, get sooooo fed up with it.xx
