bath water in ears?

I've just bought one of those bath float thingies for my 12 week old and am a bit concerned that the water seems to cover his ears. Is this bad? They're supposed to leave your hands free but I find myself holding his head up to keep his ears out!! He doesn't seem to bothered, but am worried that he could get an infection....

It shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't have a cold, IME. Both of mine have been getting water in their ears - in the pool or the bath - since they were a couple of months old (except when they have colds), and have never had any problems with their ears. I am fussy when we go out-of-doors in cold or windy weather and make sure they wear hats with earflaps at those times.

DSs had been full on under-the-water swimming by 12 weeks and were fine. I never worried about water in their ears and (touch wood) DS1 (4) has had no ear infections and DS2 (2) only 1.

I'm sure your baby will be fine.
