He says I should get my blood pressure checked. Should I be worried and make an appointment straight away?
Has anyone else had this?

Tortuous blood vessels are very common and can be caused by high BP, diabetes, high cholesterol, and a variety of other factors. So don't worry unduly but do make an appointment with your GP for a general health check and tell them what the optician has observed.

I'm always told by my optician that my blood vessels are tortuous too.

My BP & cholesteroal are a little higher than I'd like but my GP (himself an eye specialist) told me that although the blood vessels look a little kinked, they are within normal range - and my cholesterol is lower than his!

So I just keep an eye on the BP with a home monitor and try to eat a healthy diet.
