Blanford fly bite

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 17/05/2010 22:34

I have a bite on my lower leg which has reddened and covers an area a bit smaller than a 2p piece.

We live in Oxfordshire and I was at Blenheim Palace at the weekend.

DH thinks I may have been bitten by a Blandford fly and should see a GP.

Just wondered if anyone has been bitten by this bug?

I might have been I've been bitten by most things ( one of which was particularly nasty)and I'm in the right area according to that site. Not sure what the gp would do! I tend to rub on some germolene and try to ignore. ( bite not dh )

I would not ignore this but see the GP instead. It may well be a tick bite (does it look like a bullseye?).

GO TO THE DOCTOR.

I live in Blandford, and have been bitten a few times, very very nasty.

DS was bitten between the eyes and ended up in hospital as his eyes bulged so badly.

And pleases please DO NOT SCRATCH, it will make the poison swell.

Thanks, everyone.

By this evening the redness had spread around 4cm all around the original bite mark, and the swelling was right down to my ankle. It hurts like buggery!

After calling NHS Direct finally went to GP who has given me anti-b's and strict instructions to 'keep an eye on it'.
