LL could come along with Alan Hanson and fit right in

jetcat · 20/05/2010 09:14

happy birthday Dib's DS

I am trying to calm down - mini decided she wasnt going to wait for me this morning to walk to nursery, so she unlocked the front door and set off by herself - while i thought she was upstairs I then spent 5 frantic minutes looking for her (she had closed the door behind her so i didnt realise it was open), really panicking, only for her to come tootling along the path walking back towards the house IYSWIM. She had walked up to the little road where she knows she is not allowed to cross on her own, which is about 200 yards from our house - round a bend so i couldnt see her

I had some strong words with her, and havent stopped shaking yet!

Glad to hear things are improving at your end Mitts.
I'm not too bad thank you. Me and DS are both coughing away, but feeling so much better.

I was feeling really wan when we went out for our walk yesterday, and I'm thinking that I need to eat more in the morning and then lunch, as I seem to get really hungry later and pig out.
I've logged my shreddies with milk and a banana and it's less than a 1/4 of my daily cal allowance, so I'm going to work out a filling breakfast to stop my energy dipping so low.

Got to go, see you later!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 20/05/2010 09:24

Jet, my heart is in my mouth reading that.

Mitts, glad DD is on the road to recovery

DIB, happy birthhday to your DS.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 20/05/2010 09:24

Oh God Jet, that is awful.. no wonder you are upset. I used to have to lock all the doors when DD was little as she was a 'runner'.

Glad she is OK and have a cup of sweet tea...

Jet ...thank goodness all ended o.k!

Happy birthday mini Dib and congratulations SAF.

Morning everyone.

Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 09:35

Don't you start, Mitts

Roight, have done some CVs for work, dispatched DS1 to school (after major panic and turning over of house as couldn't find his library book and it's library day) and have scabby DS2 with me, who feels fine but can't mix until Saturday.

Now I have to research Condenser driers, ours has packed up and we live where you only get 2 days rainfree all year, so need to be completely un-eco.

My glamorous life, I just want to skip off hand in hand with Alanbabes into the sunset

jetcat · 20/05/2010 09:36

thanks guys. stupid thing is, the chain is always on, but obv comes off when junior goes to school and i just lock the door again. will know better now She has gone off to nursery with a flea in her ear, and wont be gettting the magazine i promised her. I dont mind her waiting for me in the front garden, but she knows she is not supposed to go out the gate

anyhow.......

glad your DD is on the mend mitts

i quite like alan hansen too

Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 09:38

Yay Jet, another woman of impeccable taste.

He is mine, though, don't get any ideas

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 20/05/2010 09:38

Saf, yes still on - it's quite warm out even though it's overcast, so we should be able to sit outside.

Both of mine were fine with MMR, maybe sleep on it?

Lizzy - you sound as rock and roll as me

hellsbelles · 20/05/2010 09:42

Lizzy - I've got to do the same actually (get a new dryer)....I've got a which account - do you want to borrow it to check out the reviews? email me if you do.

I too am a fan of the Hansen

Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 09:46

SAF, I spoke to my friend's DH (as well as looking online) before DS1 had the MMR. He is a surgeon (went to med school with the bloke who started the whole "causes autism" thang) and said that the science behind the claims was completely flawed and MMR was very safe. All 3 of his DC have had MMR and now my boys have too.
I completely undrstand your concerns though, I dithered for ages, but he totally put my mind at rest.

Oh, Happy Birthday DIB's DS, 4 yr old boys are ultra fab, it is a pity you have such a cheeky minx Mom though

jetcat · 20/05/2010 09:46

Lizzy

right - quick question re a new car. I can kind of cobble together about £1000 i think for a new car ready for the summer hols. Or, i can pay £140 a month for the next year to lease one of around the same age - all repairs/tax and servicing included.

help

Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 09:47

Thanks Hells, I have just sorted one, too boring for words, has to be a condenser drier. John Lewis is good as you get 5 yr warranty included.

Gosh, first I was worried that I had dodgy taste in men, now I'm bothered that you're going to nab me fella

hellsbelles · 20/05/2010 09:55

Lizzy - you did that quickly - I faff too much! I think I'll probably use JL too as they take away old ones too sometimes. THe one I have is a Miele and it is designed to drive you totally insane. It doesn't work (just tries to dry for 5 mins and then gets bored)....and most horrendous of all it has an alarm when it thinks it's finished.....that goes on and on and on. It never stops. And as it's in our basement it's a bloody faff (I can hear it from every room in the house).

Oh dear - I'm boring myself now. See you all later.

Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 10:00

2 yr warranty is free with JL, £75 for 5 yr, £9 to take old one away.

Wasn't too painful, I do love using DH's credit card!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 20/05/2010 10:00

Jet..... you are lovely lovely... . DD is thrilled to have had a parcel and is setting up a photo shoot. And DS will be chuffed that you have thought of him as well. You are fabulous. xx

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 20/05/2010 10:02

Jet, ummm, I don't know.
I have a thing about lease cars as you never own them, but then if ever get any problems it does get fixed and Vinny and Yank can testify that it can get quite expensive!

Could you afford £140 a month? In one year that is over the £1000 you'd be paying for a used one?

jetcat · 20/05/2010 10:11

happy new driers lizzy and hells

you're more than welcome mitts Hope the books are ok, junior loved the poem book whenever she was poorly, as they always made her laugh!

lizzy - so long as ex's job becomes permanent (on temp contract at the moment) and he continues with the maintenence, then i think i can. It is extra money that i am not used to having, so wont miss it IYSWIM. I think i am nervous about getting an old car myself as as you say, repairs can be expensive. but, a family friend owns is a mechanic and has his own garage - and we all just give him the money and tell him to find a decent car for it - so it may be ok.

Not too worried about not owning a car, as it will be a 12 month contract - during which time i can still save with my credit union and take out a loan with them next year to get a newer car. The only thing with the lease cars - they are minimum 1.8, so will use a lot of petrol. If i was buying one, i would only need a 1- 1.2 or something.

its just so confusing!
