Changing GP

Does anyone know how (or even if it is possible) to find out what particular medical interests GP's have, above and beyond just being GPs IYSWIM?

I've been having a nightmare with ours and now seem to have no options left but to change - but I'm not having any luck in trying to find out anything about the other doctors around. I really want to find one who has an interest somewhere in the (in)fertility/obstetrics/gynae/women's health area (or at least one who isn't totally dismissive of such things) - but that info just doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

i would call the possible surgeries and ask if they have any gps who specialise in that sort of thing

You could look for one with DRCOG or DFFP (or even better, both) after their name as that means they have done additional exams/training in gynae & family planning.
hth.

Thanks a lot for that Nik72. I've just found two practices in our town, where all the doctors have both of those.

good luck with the search lunar, I can't beleive the attitude of your current GP.

Oh no. It seems doctors surgeries have catchment areas, and they won't take you on if you're out of area - even if it's only slightly. And the only one we are in area for is.... you guessed it.

LunarSea do you have any friends in the 'catchment area' that you could use their address to register yourself at.
