Has anyone had dry needling?

I have chronic achilles tendonitis and have been referred for dry needling.

Quick question - has anyone had it (for this or other tendonitis / tendonosis problems) and does it hurt? Sounds disgusting! I will try it anyway as from what I can tell it often helps where other treatment hasn't, but would like to be prepared.

I'm fairly sure that is what I had on my pelvis for severe muscular pains/knotting caused by a wobbly disc!

Everyone I told thought I meant acupuncture but I didn't!!

It was done by a physio and they put the needle in to the most knotted bit of muscle and sort of tapped it and then twisted it round a few minutes later.

It was vaguely painful and made me feel a bit sick but I had signed a consent form for it which warned about sickness so I was prepared. Afterwards I would feel knackered out and sleep for an hour or so which was weird.

It was meant to break down the bad bits of muscle and for them to reform without being so twisted and knotted up. It did help.

Many apologies if that is not what you are having!!

Good luck with it whatever it is.
