Having another MRI brain scan soon

I've been visiting the GP with some funny symptoms, numbness down one side, feeling weak and my speech was an effort. I thought it could be due to the fact I'm almost 42 and am pretty sure I'm peri-menopausal. Also thought maybe migraine related as although I don't get much of a headache I have been told before (when I experienced similar symptoms) that it could be a non-headache migraine. But the GP is more concerned because of the speech so is booking me in for an MRI. I've had them before as my problems really all started when pg with ds2 10 years ago.

Just have to wait for the appointment now and not worry too much.

Hi, 2 and a half years ago I had some very strange neurological symptoms too. I literally went to bed one night and the following day my legs and bum were numb and had pins and needles in my feet which overva number of days went up my legs. It was all very scary at the time. To cut a long story short I saw a neurologist within a couple of days as gp was concerned especially as I was only 28 at the time. The neuro felt it could be viral or ms and luckily my scan came back clear and so he said pointed more to virus. (my brother has ms) It was an incredibly worrying time and the symptoms both bizarre and scary and I spent about a month in tears, probably not lol but it felt like that. So I feel for you, but you will get to the bottom of it and it will get sorted. Will keep checking on you too. Keep a note of any new symptoms. I am fine now but suffer from terrible headaches and tinitis which bloomin drives me bonkers!!

Curiousmama · 13/05/2010 10:41

Thanks for your message charlieboo so glad it wasn't MS. How is your brother doing?

He is very well thank you. He is 33 and has only had one relapse since being diagnosed 8 years ago and that was double vision. I just wanted to say that I hadn't realised virus' can cause these strange symptoms but neuro said it's more common than we realise. Hang in there, I nearly drove myself round the bend with worry. Big hugs

Blinking heck, just got another appointment and now I am having a MRI spine cervical scan.

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 15:02

What are your symptoms Fab? Maybe they're just covering all bases?

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 18/05/2010 16:06

I have 3 different complaints so it is just good luck that the doctor I saw can authorise checks for all of them.

abr1de · 18/05/2010 16:09

Thinking of you both.

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 16:44

Hope it goes well for you Fab.

Thanks abr1de.

No (sorry)!

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 20:16

haha just though maybe your mn name was an anagram

OP posts:
abr1de · 18/05/2010 21:15

Oh I see!

That would have been very clever of me. It's a kind of anagram of a name I used to have on MN: I swap letters around from time to time because I have some friends on here from RL and I don't want them knowing all my grubby little secrets.

Curiousmama · 18/05/2010 21:22

Oh I know what you mean, I change my name totally but always get found
