Cervix polyp

Just a question really.

I have just been to the doctors as part of an ongoing problem i have. I am on a period all the time, so Nurse asked for swabs to be done as an ultrasound scan showed no signs of a reason for the bleeding.

The nurse then did an internal examination of my cervix and said that it feels bulky!

She said the most likely cause could be fibrosis(SP) or a polyp.

Has anyone ever suffered from either of these?

Quite large polyp - doc snipped it off there and then, no anaesthetic. No problem, though I did not have constant bleeding like you.

Thanks hun, i was hoping someone would say did it there and then as i hate hospitals and i would probably need it cutting off if that is the case. I find out my results from swabs on monday but im not allowed a smear test as im on 24.

If it is a large polyp then you may need to be seen at colposcopy, it depends on what minor surgery your GP
is set up to do.
Re the cervical screening, can I suggest you have a look at the NHS CSP website if you scroll down to the part about ages, there is a link to the minutes of the meeting where the evidence was discussed about what age to start screening. It's quite an interesting read.
