have name changed. suffering another outbreak of genital herpes . are there any herbal remedies or similar that i can take to prevent recurrence? any and all ideas welcomed. thanks.

Have name changed. Sorry to hear that poxedoff, I feel your pain. No herbal stuff I've found but the acyclovir cream that they use for cold sores can also be used 'there' despite what the packet tells you. The sooner you catch it, the more effective the cream is. It won't stop it but it definitely lessens the impact. Get it on prescription though- the tube you buy at the chemist is microscopic and will only last for one outbreak, assuming you don't lose it first. I've tried taking a general multivitamin with minerals but not sure it helped. It's all about managing stress levels for me. I take an outbreak as a warning that I'm overdoing it and try to rest more when I get the opportunity. My dh treats me with tlc as if I have flu, after being told that the stress of his reaction when I was first diagnosed (a year after we met) caused the second one 3 weeks later. Am down to 3-4 outbreaks a year and count myself lucky. I'd have a salty bath and an early night if I were you
