Celluitis & peeling skin

My DH has recently come down with celluitis, and has been on AB's. He is on his second lot now, and he does seem to be improving slowly.

His foot still looks pretty huge, and his leg is thick, red and hot although not as bad.

The question I have is that on the back of his leg, the skin is literally falling off, like it does if you get bad sunburn.

He says he is in not a lot of pain, but that could be the painkillers in his system. He has said that the skin is incredibly itchy, which drives him nuts at night.

Is the peeling normal, and can anything be done to stop/calm the itch?

How odd, DH has cellulitis as we speak.
He suffers from this every 6 months or so, and now keeps ABs from the GP at home so that he can take them as soon as he feels the symptoms coming on.
The cellulitis always ends in dry flaky skin.If he can be bothered he rubs on some of E45 cream
The dry skin usually clears after about 2 to 3 weeks.

I remind DH to keep his leg raised but he as usual he tends to ignore me!
Oh well his leg, his health.
