Feeling really ill now with digestion problem

This is the second time in the last 6 months I have suffered really badly with indigestion. I went the G.P last time and was given thick Gaviscon and then a month long course of Lansoprazole.

It has come back now and today I feel awful. I woke in the middle of the night with that tight burning pain under my ribs and throught to my back. This went on for two hours depite drinking Gaviscon. The only thing that eventually helped was regurgitating food up, and I thought I saw some blood mingled in there.

This pattern has carried on today. I have eaten small meals but after a couple of hours I get pain in my chest and back and can feel the food rising up. Nothing helps except heaving bits of undigested food up (sorry!).

I'm just a bit wary of going to the Gp again as I went to see him last week to be referred to an ENT for voice problems!

Does anyone have any experience of this sort of thing or advice? It's gettinge me down today as am really uncomfortable.

Thanks for replying. Well I was all bleary eyed but looked like a streak of fresh blood mingled in the food.

HAve horrible back pain now. It's like something squeezubng tightly inside and any food is just bobbing at the surface refusing to move down.

What sort of voice problems - they may well be connected.

You can go hoarse and have sore throats from stomach acid travelling back up the throat.

Have been going hoarse/losing my voice since feb.

I would go back to GP on Monday and tell him about the stomach pains they may be related.

It could be many things so don't worry maybe a small hernia for example but it needs sorting you poor thing.

I would say it sounds like a stomach ulcer. I would also say ask your GP to test you for a thing called H Pylori. (which is nothing to worry about BTW)

i had something very similar, turned out to be a hiatus hernia, had to have a gastroscopy to confirm. Go back to your GP definitely, I am on Omeprazole 40mg every day now

Thanks for these useful replies. I have been feeling loads better yesterday and today; but I know I haven't seen the last of it. It does seem to coincide with periods of stress too.
