10 months after baby, stomach is still massive

I had my baby by C-Section 10 months ago and my stomach still hasn't gone down. I am overweight, but it just doesn't seem right. It feels very hard when I'm upright. I also have Fibroids, but some days I look 7 months pregnant.

I had a scan when my LO was about 3 months, but the girl doing it seemed uninterested and I was there for about 2 minutes, before she said it all looked fine.

Today I was doing some crunches on a Stability ball at the gym and felt fine, but when I stood up, it was like something had moved inwards on the left side of my stomach and out on the right. When I looked in the mirror, my stomach was lopsided and stayed like that for half an hour.

Is this generally a problem with Caesarians? Or is it possible my Uterus hasn't gone back to it's normal size?

Thanks

Hello Bacon thanks for the link. It gives a good visual of the muscles. This is pretty much similar to what myself and skandi1 have been doing - did you see our links to the tupler website? I have seen good results in a short space of time.

I understand what you are saying about the juicing, but it's in no way starvation. There are more nutrients in one juice drink than I would probably normally eat in a week. I did juicing a few years ago for 2 weeks. I did lose a lot of weight in that time and was full of energy, my skin looked better and my eyes were clear. Also - no more hormonal headaches or cravings for chocolate.

ps keep us up to date with your exercise progress. I'd love us all to be posting up saying what flat tummies we have, but I'm afraid mine might take a bit longer as I can't stop eating the wrong foods this week!!!

pssssst skandi1 I just received my flexee torsette and tried it on in between feeding DS. The jury is out for the moment. I am not sure what I expected tbh, but I hoped it would bring my tummy in a bit more. I think it does, it's just me. I really need to get on the weightloss thing - have eaten loads of bread today. I'm going to get the measuirng tape out and see if it is bringing me in any - I actually think it is. I might be brave and take a few pics and post them up!!!! maybe. Be back laters

Can't believe it's been 12 days since I last posted on this thread! Just wanted to update to say my diastasis is now down to a 'tight 3 finger' as desc by physio. I am still working in vain though to keep up the exercises, I have to close this gap. My tummy is fairly football like when I stand up and have been advised that this is due to the muscles being so stretched and bec I also have the diastasis, it is bowel I can feel in the space -but no hernia. Just wanted to add that for anyone else who may be wondering.

I measured my waist right around my middle in line with my belly button on the 30 March and again tonight - I've lost 3 inches. It's all down to the tuplers, my back feels stronger and my tummy is deffo coming in a bit.

skandi1 dont' know if you're still tracking this thread but hope you are doing well and continuing with things? How are you?
PS The flexi torsette does actually make a big difference, still haven't measured it though - but I still look pregnant although it seems to even everything out, so it's def hhelpful.

Hi Indigobarbie!

Nice to hear from you again.

Good job on the 3 inches with the tupler! Very nice.

I am keeping up the physio and the Tupler. This last week has been a bit on and off as I've had tonsillitis (ouch) and felt very very rubbish.

I did my 7 day juice thing and lost the 7lbs. I've gone on to following it up with the 14 day Turbo Charge thing which you're meant to do after the juicing and I'm on day 9 of that now (have had to have a few days off just now due to Tonsillitis but think I'm eating much less anyway as my throat is too sore).

In total I've lost 12.12lbs in around 3 weeks!! Ta da!

Am quite proud of myself .

I am going to keep it up and do another weeks juicing next week I think. Shame I've got another uhm 18lbs to go or so.

I have lost about 3 inches from the hated tummy so it does look better. And its helping with wearing normal clothes and looking less pregnant.

Despite this I was on tube last Thurday (what is it with people on the tube anyway..) and 3 people stood up and offered me a seat as soon as I got. I was really as I thought I didn't look pregnant anymore but apparently I do.

Unfortunately I've not closed any of the gap despite the exercises. As I'm down to less than 2 fingers I think the last bit wont go until I actually lose some more weight.

Physio told me that being fat was unhelpful as it would pull the weak muscles forward and make it look worse.

On with the diet then....

Hope to hear from you again soon on your progress.
Love xxxx

This is a great post! I have ordered the book. Still not keen on the juice thing from all the evidence I here any form of crash dieting just rebounds. But its worth a try.

Eating too late is a problem for me. Even though I am a SAHM I still struggle to get things done and am not slaving to the kitchen every afternoon. Hubby self employeed workaholic and no-where to be seen which has a knock on effect with childcare. Having a nightmare getting out to excercise too.

Shorts are a no-no for me at moment. But need to sort myself out before I hit the big 40!

Hi Bacon

You'll see that the 7 day juice part is just the first kick up the ar*e to a better way of eating and portion control.

There's no way that I'd have been able to do this and lose weight if I hadn't done the kick up the ar*e part first.

I'm also a SAHM and know what you mean about getting things done. And getting out to exercise is well limited due to workaholic neat-freak DH! So feel for you.

The 7 day book goes on about exercising every morning and evenin for 30 mins. Well there is no way that I could have done this with a 10 month old on my hands so I just did the 30 min Tupler workout in the evening (to help the hated tummy) and took DD for a long walk in the afternoon. That was the only way I could get exercise in.

I think you have to adapt programme a little to suit when you have LO.

I also made my 2 first juices of the day together and then made all the rest of the juices for the whole day at lunchtime when DD has long nap. Despite the book saying that fresh juice/smoothie is best. And no I didn't have anything special like flasks to store them in. I just stored in glasses with clingfilm in fridge and then gave juice a stir before drinking later.

If I'd had to make each juice fresh there is no way I could have done this with DD demanding attention.

Hope you have lots of success - wishing you all the best.
