If you can, try to find where they are coming in and put poison in that place, if you can find the nest outside even better. I would use something like the nippon liquid, so that you won't need to worry about airborne dust.

Luckily your baby won't be able to access the poison because they are still immobile, which should make things easier. I started athread about this the other day because i have a toddler and a similar issue... suggestions included talcum powder and borax.

I actually ended up finding the outside nest and poisoning it with a liquid poison. I basically put the poison down during the day while DD was at nursery and then washed it away when she got home... did that for a couple of days and they are now gone...

oh and i hoovered up the ones in the living room.... they were all running around in the cylinder when i emptied it into the outside bin... but i just couldn't think of a more efficient way of doing it

The problem is I think they are coming from underneath the floor boards???
there are small empty spaces inbetween wooden boards. Ohhh ohhh Will try as you said! Do you think I can use an ant spray which is for inside the home and spray in the evening when baby is upstairs in nursery?

Just for info if someone has same prob:
We bought a bait from Homebase which will make the ants carry the poison to the nest eventually killing all.
