How do they diagnose a rectocele?

I think I have one. I've had a colonoscopy and awaiting results but that was weeks ago now.

I just need to know how can doctors diagnose a rectocele?

Do you always need surgery for it?

Some days I can barely feel it, other days, I'm in loads of discomfort and very constipated.

Please can someone tell me what will help? And what they will do next?

I feel really embarrassed and upset about it.

ahh- don't be embarrassed- it;s common.

It would be diagnosed by a gynae usually doing an internal.

They look for a bulge on the back wall.

You don't have to have it repaired but if it is bothering you then it might be a good idea.

Meanwhile you could try lots of pelvic floor exercises- at least 50 a day holding to count of 5, and making sure you don't get constipated. If this doesn't help then you might want to consider surgery.
