Why would a doctor request a urine sample after receiving blood test results?

I recently had a blood test after going to the doctor with a few minor ailments. The doctor said he was doing it just to check everything was ok. I telephoned a few days later and the receptionist said she thought everything looked ok.

I've just received a letter simply stating, 'we have your blood test results, I would now request that you bring in a urine sample'.

I know its probably nothing, but wondered why a doctor might be likely to request a urine sample after recieving blood results? I know its likely that he may just have forgotten to ask, but it seems strange if my bloods are ok?

Probably being paranoid I know, but I'm not a good patient!

Might be that your bloods aren't ok! :D

But probably that he forgot to ask ;)

might want to rule out uti / protein in urine ie kidney dysfunction / diabetes.
