I had mine out 9 years ago, I wasn't BFing but did go home the day after.

I had mine out whilst still B/F. My DS was 6 weeks old at the time so entirely B/F. This was 6 months ago.

Was friends with the surgeon so trusted him completely. He said the only thing to be careful of would be the anaesthetic drugs and pain relief post-op. I weighed it up and decided being on a no fat diet whilst B/f and still getting the attacks was worse than the post-op pain and peace of mind!

Was absolutely fine, though couldn't lift for a couple of weeks very well. Had to have help at home to lift baby. Also expressed milk and froze it so DH could do alternate feeds whilst I was in hospital. DS was shuttled into hospital for every other feed to keep supply but came home 48 hours later.

Had 'choose and book' option and plumped for a nuffield hospital. They were fab - own room, privacy and great care. Don't regret havin the op at all

I had my gallbladder out when dd1 was 3 months old and exclusively breastfed. It was keyhole surgery and I only had to stay in overnight. I was advised to give her expressed milk for 24 hours after the op to make sure all drugs were out of my system.

It was definately worth doing as I've been painfree since.
