im 13 weeks and have been diagnosed as having low platelet levels. I have more blood tests next week to see if they can find the cause but i was wondering in anyone has also had this and if so what happened?

TIA

I had low platelets throughout my second pregnancy, it wasn't diagnosed as early as you though it was about half way through.

I just had to go for a blood test, I think every week, and they checked the levels didn't fall too low. They didn't get dangerously low and then after the birth the checked again and they had come back up so it was all ok.

Me, with both my pregnancies. THere is no known cause or treatment. I had to have mine checked weekly and then as soon as I went into active labour (if they are too low, it restricts your pain relief options). First time round they were so low that the m/w insisted on a managed 3rd stage to reduce bleeding. It's not too serious though.

thanks you two - how low were your levels if you dont mind me asking?

Mine were 108 and have gone down to 98

Mine were at about 90 the first time round and just over 100 the second time (I was told 100 is the cut off for an epidural).

I can't remember,it was 6 years ago now. I'm not sure if it was written on my pregnancy notes or not, I used to go to the dr's every week to get the blood test then would phone in to find out the result. I'll see if I can find my paperwork and if I find it I'll let you know.
