period type pains but not period time - any clues?

I had my period last week - usually very regular 28-30days. For the last couple of days I have had occasional cramps - lasting about half an hour each time. No period, am not pg (afaik) - any ideas what is going on?

Ello Thumb.
Was it a normal period?

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 12:48

normal but shortish. But that in itself isn't abnormal; they vary between 2 and 5 days

It's probably a good idea to pop and see a GP/equivalent and get it checked out. There's a couple of things that can cause pain (endometriosis/fibroids) so it really should be checked. DO you have any abnormal discharge?

notyummy · 25/04/2010 13:02

Could it be ovulation pain?

TanteRose · 25/04/2010 13:04

cystitis?

I got bad period-like pains when I got a bladder infection...

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 13:27

Too early for ovulation and wouldn't that only happen once? I've never had it.

Cystitis - I haven't any other symptoms, no problems peeing, no burning/stinging when I do so don't think so.

No abnormal discharge (or smell, sorry) either. NEver had endometriosis before, suppose it could be fibroids but how quickly do they appear? I had a scan just before Christmas, they would have noticed them then, wouldn't they?

You could have a bit of free fluid there or an ovarian cyst, you should really get it checked out Thumb

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 13:30

will do - it feels almost wave-form, a bit like weak contractions. It's going on a bit longer this evening - still going now. It doesn't hurt though - it just feels like there's something moving in there - how weird is that!

OP posts:
BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 25/04/2010 13:38

Could it be wind??

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 13:45

Nope - ha ha though.
Had it in bed last night - wasn't wind then either. Might be bowel related though, could extreme peristalsis or whatever it's called when it gets to the colon! Not wind though. No bloating either. It is tender if I stick my fingers in though, but not around the colon, in the centre.

GAh! I hate weirdy feeling that I don't know what they are!

You sure you are not pregnant? You can still have periods you know.

AuntieMaggie · 25/04/2010 17:54

could it be your bowels?

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 23:30

I haven't tested - never had periods in pg before - but if it carries on I will test just in case.

OK again this morning - most weird!
Thanks for helpful suggestions.

I've not been that helpful. Maybe it was some sort of after period pain? Pop and see the doctor if it happens again though.

thumbwitch · 25/04/2010 23:35

will keep an eye on it and go see GP if it keeps happening - thank you!
