This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

No worries SAF - I tend not to take things pesonally on here. Hard as nails me. Well, not me, but Trills is It's actually been very educational talking to all you mother-type people.

Fish fingers are yum.

oh thankyou for reminding me. i need to ds' bed.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 24/04/2010 14:16

Afternoon

Trying to sort out the garden. We are digging up all the beds and planting new shrubs. The actual garden. Not a euphemism

Vinny - he sounds like a catch

DEM and saf, you sound very productive

at hard as nails trills (I have no idea whether it is true, and no intention of finding out)

I want fishfingers now! I've not eaten yet, just fed the kids.

DS is being horrible. I really don't like him when he is being like this.

Steak for dinner mmmm.

Fleecy · 24/04/2010 14:38

SAF - changing the beds is my least favourite chore (apart from hoovering). I don't mind stripping them or washing the bedding but I hate hate hate putting it back on.

Afternoon ladies. What a gorgeous day it is! It's days like today that make me realise I am glad we moved out of London. Wine in the back garden, kids in the paddling pool and a BBQ later on. Pure bliss.

SAF: changing the bedsheets is the most mundane of the mundane jobs. I always stip the bed and then think I'll put the new sheets on later, invariably forget and end up having to do it when I go to bed. There is nothing quite so irritating as an un-made bed when you are desperate to fall into it.

Mmmmn, I'm feeling like steak now too.

I am chuffed to bits today actually. Got on the scales this morning and I was under 9stone. Haven't been that since about 5 months pregnant with DD 4 years ago.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/04/2010 16:16

Well hello again

DC's had fish fingers for lunch. Have just made burgers for tea for them which they are going to have with chips and corn on the cob.

We are having prawn and chorizo frittata and salad.

Did my ironing, 1 superking bed set, 3 kingsize, 1 double and all the pillowcases to go with them.

And we had a lovely hour in the Castle grounds as it was closed to the public.

Rollergirl1 · 24/04/2010 16:22

Fivegomad: I was just about to ask you if you had a massive house with all that bedding but had a sneak at your profile and you run a B&B so question answered. Also notice that you've been to Camp Bestival. How did you find it with the kids? I am keen to do a festival with the kids, either Camp Bestival or The Big Chill. DH thinks it will be crap and we won't enjoy ourselves cos we'll have the kids in tow and we won't get to listen to any of the bands we want to. And even if we do it won't be the same as it was pre-kids.

Am keen to hear from someone who's actually been.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/04/2010 16:31

Camp Bestival is great but we have never camped. We live a mile away from Lulworth Castle, we let our house out to the organisers last year and the year before. Stayed with my parents the first year who loved 100ms away from it the first year and last year stayed with my sister who lives at the bottom of the camping field. During the day it is great with kids, we did escape to the pub where the wait for food was a lot shorter. The only thing we found was that in the evenings, our DD didn't cope with standing, dancing etc while we listened to the bands and didn't have a hope of falling asleep while most other children were great. Looking forward to this year, we have friends coming from Ireland for it hopefully and staying put in our house.

Rollergirl1 · 24/04/2010 16:46

Fivegomad: Well I guess that takes away half of the stress with not camping. I wouldn't consider going on our own. I have it in my head that if there were a group of us going that we could take in turns at night looking after the kids while others went off to catch some music. Not sure if it's realistic or not.

The only other thing that is stopping me (other than a reluctant husband) is that I think it'll end up being really really expensive. Would probably rather go abroad for the money shelled out.

I just think it would be an experience and I think the kids would really like. And if we manage to have a bit of a boogie to some decent music at the same time, well then that's a plus. DH thinks I'm just hankering after the old days and I should just get over it.

VinegarTits · 24/04/2010 17:28

evening, me and my mate are sitting in the garden drinking vodka (pissheads) just got the BBQ going, have steak ready to go on it...bliss

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/04/2010 17:38

Sounds lush Vinny

I did a thread the other day about a dog in the village but abandoned it because it very quickly became a 'heated debate', but the dog has just bitten DS, not in play. Have told the mother, not to cause a fuss, but it is around children a lot.

Hey ho...life's little challenges..

jetcat · 24/04/2010 17:46

ok, think i am slowly catching up

Bella - wow at Greenday, bet your DS's won't be able to contain themselves. I would never be able to keep a secret like that

JuJusdad - mini is about 6 monthes older than your DD, and is probably just as fickle She is still at the hand holding while trying to go to sleep, though thankfully that is only if she wakes during the night. She is quite happy to sit and play in bed for a bit before dropping off to sleep, though its not always in bed that she falls asleep - her favourite place is in the bottom of the wardrobe

well done on the loss TWC - but dont lose too much, we need you to remain shapely

vinny - at the dating drama, bet you glad you never stuck with him then and enjoy your bbq

i am seriously sunburned on my face, it is so sore I didnt think the sun was that bbad, but i guess i underestimated. Good job the kids were well covered

GOt back on treadmill today, as weigh in on MOnday, i think i may have lost a little, but we shall see

TrillianAstra · 24/04/2010 18:09

Oooh, Dr WHo soon.

Spent the afternoon reading the paper and eating crisps in a friend's garden but the sun must not have been as good/bad as it was for you Jet. Supposed t be going to a birthday party this evening but not feeling the love quite yet.

I'm not really back into the swing of MNing yet, but suspect it will be less than before because of full time work. The internet there is very locked down--no facebook, no MN, no flickr.

It was a bit of a weird day. I ended up booked on a basic life support course for the afternoon, and by then I was missing DS so much I was cuddling the infant CPR dummy (nearly the same size!).

I weighed myself this morning pre-breakfast, post-feeding and I was at 16st 12.4, so have gained 3.4lbs over the last 3.5 weeks. Not bad considering I was in the USA and stranded in Amsterdam, I was expecting a lot worse.

We will be joining the gym soon. Am trying to figure out the logistics of making healthy food at home very very quickly so we can still do all our evening activities.

Hope you are all well, I will try to keep up better from now on!

DeFluff · 24/04/2010 19:01

Just swinging in quickly to ask Vins if I've solved her birthday dilema for her.

[whistles innocently]

JuJusDad · 24/04/2010 19:03

Hi all!

Jet - that's kind of cheered and depressed me - don't fancy another 6 months of hand holding, but don't feel so bad about DD sleeping on the floor...

Yank - thanks for the reminder, I'm off to do some cooking for tomorrow's dinner. back in a bit

SaF - some men (and women) are fixers - they're congenitally (sp?) unable to apologise, but happy to expend some practical effort to make up for their indiscretion.

Plus, your Brazillian fella does sound like he's in a strange mental and emotional place.

VinegarTits · 24/04/2010 19:03

Hello Yank! glad you got back safely, i was following your updates on Fb

what is it about men and bbq? mates boyfriend got it lit in seconds, i just tried to light the other side and there is smoke everywhere! i smell like ive been playing with fire!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/04/2010 19:18

DS used to get his blanket, soft toy and dummy and curl up by the stair gate which looked really pitiful but his sleeping was a nightmare and CC wasn't going to work and in the end it was our sanity at stake and it was easy to scoop him up and put him in bed.

He adjusted in the end and settled in bed. He is a very 'people person' and craves company obsessively and he just wanted to be close to us I think but God it was wearing.

I want Vinny to use one of my suggestions [pout]

Has suddenly turned chilly so no BBQ. Gonna get takeaway. Can't decide between a thai curry or chinese. I think spiced salt & chilli prawns might be calling.

Over the Rainbow is on in the background. Just caught sight of charlotte church! How amazing does she look!?

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 24/04/2010 20:19

Hello all, just a quickie before I settle down for BGT.

Haven't shredded today but have got a fair bit of the garden sorted.

Defluff, loved your suggestions for Vinny

That baby monkey looks like my DD this time last year!

Vinny, couldn't you get your Gran a nice cashmere blanket?

My nan always used to feel the cold.

Mitts - your DS sounds adorable.

Rollergirl - at you being under 9 stone.

VinegarTits · 24/04/2010 20:28

we are cooking steak on the barbie and listening to bob marley
