Antibiotic timing question

I'm on four doses of my ABs per day. I am shagged and want to sleep yet need to take a fourth dose before I do.

Leaflet says nothing about min gap between doses. Had last dose at 6pm.

I'm on 500mg phenoxymethylpenicillin and 500mg flucloxicillan.

When's the earliest I can take drugs and go to sleep? I've generally assumed four hours based on the highly scientific fact that that is the spacing for paracetamol.

Perfectly safe to take them closer together. They are most effective if you take at regular intervals but having a dose a couple of hours early is fine.

DS was recently on FLucloacilin in hospital and they gave it to him at 6am, 12 noon, 6pm and midnight.

When he came home he was on a different one which I can't remember, smelt orangey anyway, which he had 3 times a day, when he got up, lunch time and bedtime. SO longer gap 7pm-7am, but all seemed ok.

Make of that what you will.

Thank you! Lights out in ten minutes then.

Penicillin is safe to give at very high doses. So taking another dose sooner than usual is unlikely to do any harm, although obviously they will be most effective if spaced as evenly as you can manage.

in hospital the bastards caring nurses woke me up to keep the regular bit.
