I usually have dermititas(sp)on my hands but has cleared up for a few months now.I woke up on friday with a huge blister between my finger which is now huge and wet.I have a couple of smaller ones on other fingers and one small yellow blister on the back of my hand .Underneath my forearm i also have some spots which appeared last night.
I am run down atm.
Does it sound like Impetigo?
Should i go into work with it?(carer)

It could be.
it is quite infectious so I guess you probably have to start treatment before returning to work?

I have been to the gp loads lately .Does anyone know what the treatment for it is?can i buy over the counter?
Thanks

Treatment is antibiotics - topical cream and/or oral.
You need Gp.
You could ask pharmacist what they think though - could be something else entirely.
You are more at risk from impetigo due to your dermatitis

Thanks nicky

It sounds very like impetigo although I think a doctor should confirm for sure.

If it is it's v v infectious and quite easily picked up. As a carer prob best to avoid work for now.

My dc went though a spate of it some years ago. You need AB's to get rid of it but thankfully we found it responds pretty quickly to them.

nickytwotimes · 19/04/2010 11:10

We had outbreak at school recently - can you tell.
Easily treated though.

Do you know there is nothing right with me at the moment .Feel v embarrassed to go Gp's again and worst like i get no sick pay

Well the gp took a swab but he said it looks more like a fungul infection than a bacterial one but he said "you dont usually find fungul infections on the hands, usually feet".So none the feckin wiser
Been given steriod cream and antibiotics.

Did he say what to do wrt work?

Beauregard · 20/04/2010 11:07

Hi he said "well you dont really want to be handling people with hands like that but they wont catch anything too serious if they do"so i told my employer and she said to leave it yesterday(will prob still lose pay though)Am going in today with cotton gloves but chances are it is impetigo because my dd2 now has a rash.Tbh i dont feel very well and my glands are swollen too.
