how do you increase sex drive?

Any suggestions on how to increase my sex drive? Since DD3 was born 2 years ago I've had sex about 4 times, and only then because I'd had a few drinks.

I feel awful for DH, he's been really supportive if a little frustrated!

I'm generally healthy, a little tired, have low thyroid, but very happy and I'm still in love with DH, just don't feel that I want sex.

Any suggestions would be welcome please!!!

Well I've heared that the more you have sex the more you want! Apparently.

Joking aside, do you get to spend time as a couple. DH and I try to get a night away now again on our own. I appreciate you have three children this may not be possible.

Do you get any exercise? I must say since I've been trying to regain my fitness I'm feeling better about myself generally.

Are you on medication? Maybe this is having an effect.

Regular masturbation / sex and orgasms - when you don't have regular sex your body just forgets to want it basically.
Just do it even if you think you're not in the mood, you don't need to feel desire to enjoy sex.
Getting generally fit and healthy is good for libido too.

that will be a reason and agree with mal

BTW, I'm at the other end of the scale atm, I am craving sex because DH has a back injury and is either feeling awful or is zonked out on painkillers, I'm climbing the walls with frustration after only a week and sorting myself out is like having one square of chocolate when you want the whole bar.

We've got a night away next weekend, and I want to be ready for it! I'll try the "Well I've heared that the more you have sex the more you want! Apparently". This week should be interesting! Thanks for all your help.

i could have written this myself. what is a low thyroid? can it affect your sex drive? if so i wonder if i should get checked? how do you know if you have it?

mumwifemaggie · 20/04/2010 08:07

Ninja, the thyroid test is just a simple blood test that my GP took. The hard part is getting your medication right so that you feel better.

Low thyroid makes you feel slugish, tired, low sex drive, depression, I also get brain fog (not concentrating properly and loss of memory). Obviously everyone is different and get different symptoms.

I thought I had PND after my DD1 was born but blood test confirmed low thyroid. Been on Thyroxine for 8 years now, and will be for life.

Hope this helps Ninja, let me know how you get on.

I have this problem too and have spoken to my doctor. I don't have a low thyroid but I do have M.E. which doesn't help.

She said the less you do it, the less you want it. Bloody pain really as I just can't be bothered anymore.

noddyholder · 20/04/2010 10:00

Agree re keep doing it!Not sure if it will work for you but I started taking agnes castus for pmt a few years ago and within weeks my sex drive had soared(which wasn't the affect I was after) prob too much!I don't take it anymore but you could try it

Coldhands · 20/04/2010 10:02

That sounds good Noddy. I have notice that since I have had DS, my PMT is awful.

noddyholder · 20/04/2010 10:28

Give it a go.My dp was over the moon!

NinjaChipmunk · 21/04/2010 12:34

think i'll go with the doing it making you want more thory first and if that doesn't work i'll head for the gp's. ta for the info mumwifemaggie.

mumwifemaggie · 30/04/2010 14:52

Great weekend, I really tried and I did want it as well. Think the theory is right, doing it making you want it. Only thing is, DH also wants it more now too!
