Am new to this so hope I do it right!
Has anyone had any side effects from Implanon, the contraceptive implant you can have put in your arm?
I had mine fitted 6 weeks ago & am struggling terribly- have turned into spawn of satan, snapping at everyone for no reason. feel like I'm drowning & am down about everything-not like me at all. Also, sex drive has gone completely, not a litle bit but totally packed it's bag & disappeared!
How long should I give it before I scream at my GP to take it out? has anyone persevered & found it brilliant?

Sadly no. I had it 10 years ago and I gained 4 stone in 9 months!!! When I initially had it put in I was told I was so skinny it might show through my arm. When I went back for it taking out I was told I must just be eating too much! Weight dropped off when it was taken out.

I lost my sex drive but I don't know if that was the implant or the fact that I'd gained so much weight!

I had it removed at 9 months.

Hi Belle

I have an Implanon implant. It's my second.

Both times, I've experienced mood swings for the first few weeks, but they've disappeared after that and I've got back to normal. My periods are a bit bizarre this time (very, very light, but dragging on for more than a week), but nothing unmanageable. Generally, I'm very happy with it - otherwise I wouldn't have gone for a second one.

In your case, I'd be inclined to give it another couple of weeks then go and have a chat with your GP if you still don't feel normal.
