Anyone know of anything that will help? I really dont fancy any of the medical treatments but the pain is really getting to me now and i feel like I have no choice.

Oestrogen tends to feed them and make them bigger so if you need to lose weight, then that would probably shrink them. If you're not overweight, then I'm not sure what would work, unless you're taking the contracetive pill, which would obviously be increasing the amount of oestrogen in your body. By stopping the pill and using another contracetive, it might work.

Im not massively overweight but I should look at my diet in general. Not on the pill. I wonder where the sodding things come from?!!

Cut back on sugar and sugary carbs like white bread etc. processed wheat products are also sugary and would increase oestrogen in the body.
I used to get thrush regularly but when I cut right back on processed carbs (I never eat more than 2 pieces of bread a day), I've never had it since.

Bread is my downfall and it makes me feel lousy but its so hard to give up!

I used to eat lots of toast and honey and I truly think, that was the reason I had so much sugar in my body. Now I have cereal and banana for breakfast, soup with watercress in for lunch and try to have a small amount of wholegrain carbs with my tea. Occasionally, I'll crave bread but only allow myself two pieces. I know it's hard though - I love bread too!

Wheatgrass/barleygrass juice can help. My biggest fibroids shrunk from 12cm diameter to 5 cm after taking wheatgrass shots. Tastes vile though

I had one shot per day (about a tablespoon - it can be mixed with water to make it less rancid but tbh, I preferred to just hold my nose and knock it back !). I didn't cut out carbs. I cut down on caffeine and tried to increase fibre and reduce fat (but wasn't very strict about it).

luciemule · 18/04/2010 21:00

Kittya - you don't have to cut out carbs - just try to reduce processed carbs like white bread, white pasta and white rice. Try to have wholegrain bread and pasta and brown rice. To fill up, have a banana, loads of cottage cheese as it's extremely low fat but loads of protein and lean meat. For lunch, I love rivita spread with low fat soft cheese and ham slices. I put them together like a sandwich and leave them wrapped in clingfilm until lunchtime, when the rivita have gone soft and seem less like card! Or you can have granary bread - good with soup. Or couscous or quinoa salad. It's not about going without, just cutting down on processed carbs.

Kittya - try and get a copy of "The Wisdom of Menopause" by Dr Christiane Northrup, she discusses fibroids but I cannot remember what she said, sorry!
There was a Daily Mail article in their Tuesday Health section not long ago about a woman who had a new treatment for fibroids which was non sugical if my memory serves me correctly.
Have seen your thread on Hysterectomy - please dont rush into a discission until you are satisfied you have explored all the options and if in doubt seek a second opinion even if you need to go privately. Consultation will be about £120.00 but for me has always been money well spent as have come up with different options.

Sweetpettle · 21/03/2024 15:58

👋 hi Tillyscoutsmum, the wheatgrass & barley grass supplement did you alternate this daily, or take in a weekly basis?

Guttedme · 22/03/2024 01:02

Cereazette (the oral pill) killed fibroid within 6 months? although 2 clinicians says the consultant couldn’t get to the fibroid as buried deep with the risk of vaginal surgery so didn’t bother.
I’m unsure why they wake people up and lie they’re a—- off on a paperwork saying no fibroid. It’s barbaric in a mental wellbeing society we live in.

Apparently I’ve a thin lining noted which is strange for people with fibroids as it is normally heavy.

I want nothing further to do with ‘we’ve never met so can’t be bothered gp’s that hadn’t touched me nor the consultants.

I’ve been told the gynaecologist that dealt with me is a 3/4 week annual leave break despite the friend of a gp saying so overworked and not fair of me to expect confirmation of questions within a few days.
