Hair Loss - 4months PP

Anyone any advice on what I can do to prevent my hair from falling out? Or help it grow again!

Had my DS 4months ago now and at three and half months my hair started falling out...(it coincided with me stopping breast feeding.... coincidence or reason for hair loss?) I know some women experience hair loss but when will it end?

It is falling out so much I now have a receeding hairline. It's making me worry and I know that will make it worse.

Also... not had a period yet? Is that normal?

Thanks for listening.

xx

All sounds totally normal

4 months is no time not to have had a period yet, especially if you've been breastfeeding

Your hair often thickens during pregancy so it goes back to normal afterwards - although the receding hairline doesn't sound right. Might be worth speaking to your health visitor?

It's all to do with those pesky goddam hormones.

Hi. I can completely sympathise with your situation. My hair started falling out from about 12 weeks after my DD was born and I would estimate I lost approx. 50% of my hair. I didn't lose any at all while pregnant and that would account for the rather dramatic loss after the birth. I think it is fairly common to have hair loss coincide with stopping bf although I fed DD until she was 15 months. My hair loss was probably much reduced by 6 months but then the short new hair started to appear and looked quite odd. Gradually went from mid length hair to very short over about 4 cuts. Should have just started again in the first place! On the plus side, my hair did come back fuller and thicker than previously. If you are concerned see your GP. There are some treatments available for extreme hair loss. HTH.x

my dd2 is now 1yo and my hair regrowth (from the handlfuls that fell out) is now around 4 inches long. I had this with dd1 as well. My hair just didn't fall out when I was pregnant then shed at 4month pp. I did go through a rather fetching phase when it was like a little halo of fuzz all round my head (just in time for me going back to work) !

I posted almost identical question on here about a month ago. Also have receding hairline but now in 5th month pp starting to sprout some regrowth along this area (thank god). Stopped breastfeeding at 16 wks and hairloss has got alot worse but I think this can be quite common. Could you maybe get a fringe cut in to help you disguise hairline just for a while? Was also worried about missing period but it turned up eventually last week. Be confident everything will get back to normal in time and try and distract yourself with your lovely baby
Good luck. x

Thank you!!! I feel better knowing that it is normal and that the amount that is falling out is normal too! Good to hear it grows back too.

Fringe idea sounds a good idea.... think I might get a long bob cut in too.

Once again thanks ladies for the reassurance.

ps my baby is lovely - I am blessed! xxxx
