Periods and odours (definitely a TMI question!)

My periods used to be quite heavy, though not particularly smelly. Since I have been on HRT + Mirena, they have become very light but are smelly. Is this normal? I do, of course, change my sanpro frequently.

I am not sure, can you get infections with Mirena? Might be worth checking with GP

Are you having proper periods- or are you post meno and the bleeds are actually withdrawal bleeds?

It is possible that it is your sense of smell that has changed- evidently after meno many women lose their sense of smell a bit- and can wear really strong perfume and not notice.

Just wonder if you have got thisin reverse due to HRT- an increased sense of smell?

What is a withdrawal bleed?

From the results of blood tests and a scan last year, and from sypmtoms pre-treatment, the dr thinks that some months I'm ovulating and some months not.

My sense of smell hasn't changed AFAI can tell.

You are obviously taking HRT pre menopause if you haven't been told about withdrawal bleeds- these are like you would have if on the pill- you are not having proper periods but the meds make you bleed once a month or every 3 months so that the lining of the womb does not build up and become cancerous.

have you got the Mirena as part of your HRT or for contraception?
(It can be used as par tof HRT if you then just use oestrogen tablets/gel/patches .)

I've got Mirena for both reasons. HRT is continuous oestrogen patches.
