sorry about the title but i get embarrassed calling them by there proper name. am such a prude dont know how i got pregnant he is 23 months old and when i change his nappy lately he is terrified and absolutely will not let me touch him there to clean him.. it is not red or imflamed. he also goes hyterical when i put him in the bath he used to love bathtime. he did get nappyrash about 3 weeks ago so could this be a mental thing where he associates this area with pain. sorry for rambling just dont know what to do for the best. would appreciate any advice

Clicked because I wondered what 'Never regions' were. I think you mean 'Nether regions'

I'd suggest taking him to see your doctor. He could possibly have a urine infection that's making it sting?? Or an infection under his foreskin??

thanks golden i have him booked in for wednesday. i will try and get a water sample off him then and take it with me. you could be right about water infection as his nappies are dry for ages then suddenly get soaking which tells me he could be holding back his water due to pain.

I had to get a sample from my DS a while back. Doctor said not to worry about mid-flow as anything was better than nothing. If you can't get one don't worry, they can give you a little bag that tapes to him that he can wear inside his nappy to catch it as he goes.

In the meantime try giving him lots of water to water down the urine to make it sting less - if that's what the issue is. Barley water or cranberry juice will reduce any acidity.

Or dig a potty out? He might be happier if he can go while keeping it off his skin and you'd have to do less wiping?

Maybe try a shower before bedtime? He could just be asserting his independence and want to control/change the way things are done.

I had this a little while ago when DD was born. It looked for all the world like an infection, but it was just DS playing up at the changes.
