Granny23 · 06/04/2010 14:29

Yep, me too. Daffodils out - sneezing starts.

hennipenni · 06/04/2010 15:31

Not sneezing but runny nose and itchy eyes.

Katisha · 06/04/2010 15:34

Yup. Started the antihistamines last week. Will be on them until November.

cheesesarnie · 06/04/2010 15:35

ds1 has bright red itching eyes for past 2 days or so.

ds2 asthma playing up.

helyg · 06/04/2010 15:41

Yes, my asthma is playing up, my eyes and nose are itching and I am sneezing like a loon.

DidEinsteinsMum · 06/04/2010 15:52

tree pollen is out, the hayfever season has begun. Ds is poorly with it. Me, i have dust allergy.. lots of weepy eyes, sneezing and feeling bleurgh here.

cheesesarnie · 06/04/2010 15:52

they were thinking ds2 asthma had gone as hed been fine for quite a while

kittybrown · 06/04/2010 16:21

Stuffy and itchy here too. It started a couple of weeks ago for me then stopped for a week when the sun went in. Now the sun's out again it's back. Grrrrrr

zazen · 06/04/2010 16:25

It's birch tree pollen I think.
Vogel's Luffa complex is good to use.

K81P · 06/04/2010 17:04

What Age did your little ones start with Hayfever??

redwhiteandblue · 06/04/2010 17:08

aha! My nose has been running and I've been sneezing for the past couple of days

Will start early on the antihistamines

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 06/04/2010 17:12

1st March was the first day for me - stuffy, itchy, runny nose every morning since then, and today with the sun out my first sneeze.
I associate it with the grape hyacinths in my garden starting to flower - I know I get severe symptoms if I have hyacinths or lillies in the house.
DD started when she was 9 or 10 (now 12).

hennipenni · 06/04/2010 18:03

K81P - DD1 started when she was 10 or so, DD3 started when she was around 2 and has asthma also, DD2 suffers a little with itchy eyes but not on the scale that her sisters do. I started at about 5 along with Asthma and excema.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 06/04/2010 18:14

me too, runny nose and itchy eyes for the last few days, thought it was a cold

Elibean · 06/04/2010 18:22

Ah. Was hoping it was a small summer cold, but as I don't feel ill, and its sporadic, it must be hayfever.

I just get bunged up nose and sneezing, would Clarityn or Zirtec help, d'you think? Its the stuffed up nose I hate most.

Katisha · 06/04/2010 18:39

Try it - if it is a cold the antihistamines won't be very effective on it. Then you'll know!

scaredoflove · 06/04/2010 18:48

I don't usually start until around May, which is what confused me

Looks like I might be adding tree pollen to my list of allergies, deep joy

missslc · 06/04/2010 19:11

Does anyone know if i can take standard anti histamine hayfever treatments- like clarityn when breast feeding- moved to new city so not yet registered with doctor and i am sneezing the house down but know i have to check before i take any medications??

taffetacat · 06/04/2010 19:26

scaredoflove - me too. Have had itchy throat for about 2 -3 weeks now and I don't normally start til May. I've had hayfever since I was 5.

bebejones · 06/04/2010 19:46

Yep, it's grass & tree pollen that gets me & everything is starting to flower now so definately got the itchy eyes. Started when people got out mowing the grass a couple of weeks back! YUK!

Elibean · 06/04/2010 19:51

I will, thanks Katisha. I definitely get allergies these days (started in my mid-30s, I think) but not usually so early!

I've tried Zirtec before with not much difference, do the antihistamines take time to work - like a build up?

Sorry, no idea about them when BFing...think there are some that are better than others, though, iirc. Hope someone else knows!

taffetacat · 06/04/2010 20:09

I recall I couldn't have any of the effective treatments when I was pregnant - only Piriton, which is v weak. I seem to recall it was the same for bf, but this was a couple of years ago.

The best antihistamine I've come across is the Boots own brand one.

SingleMum01 · 06/04/2010 20:13

do you get a sore throat with hayfever?

JustMoon · 06/04/2010 20:49

aha, I was wondering. I always get a dry bogey nose (sorry tmi) for a month or so before the itching starts and I have it now. Seems a bit early though?

taffetacat for some reason I didn't get hayfever when i was pregnant, thankfully as I was really dreading it.

DragonMamiCooksWelshCakes · 06/04/2010 21:08

SingleMum01 - yes, every single bloody summer for the last 23 years. And it lasts for weeks I'm afraid.

I found the red light up the nose thingy from Lloyds Pharmacy worked wonders last year. Am hoping it wasn't a fluke as none of the anti-histamine pills seem to work on me any more.
