Is this normal after coming off Cerazette? Please help! Possible TMI...

After taking the pill for approx 12 years (various different ones), I stopped taking it altogether in January. I had been on Cerazette for about 3 years.

3 weeks after stopping it I had, what I thought was a normal period. Then nothing - until now. I started bleeding on Saturday and it is so heavy, it has been that long since Ive had a proper period but I can't remember it ever being like this. I'm using Super Plus Tampons and having to change them every hour and I wake up in the middle of the night soaked in blood (after bleeding through the tampon and a pad).

So, is this normal? Or is it just because I've stopped taking the pill? If this is how it's going to be every month then I think I may be going back onto the pill!

I don't think you can tell - I think you need to sit it out for a couple of months and see if it settles down, sorry.

Cerazette played havoc with my periods when I was on it but it was OK when I came off it, they just went back to normal.

I didnt have any periods at all whilst on Cerazette, so maybe that's why this is such a shock to me! I keep thinking back to what we were told at school - that although there may seem a lot of blood, there's only an eggcup full. I think I could fill an eggcup every couple of hours!!

I will give it a few months but if this is normal then I'll definitely be going back onto Cerazette!

Haha if you have ever used a mooncup you will know the eggcup thing is rubbish anyway! I wouldn't worry about the level of blood loss, but perhaps take an iron supplement or something if you are feeling run down from it.

I am feeling a bit rundown and also very tired. DP has just been and bought me some iron tablets so will see if those help. He did want to take me to the walk in centre as he was convinced I should need a blood transfusion due to all the blood loss!!

Keeping everything crossed it starts getting lighter soon, not sure I can do another night like the last 2!

I dont think the amount of bleeding you are having is right and you do need to get checked out.

Cerazette topped my periods totally and took about 6 months to return, the first period was very heavy and painful, but nothing like yours.

I think filling a pad every hour is a bit excessive.

The bleeding has now, thankfully, almost stopped. Looks like I had a whole weeks worth of bleeding in 3 days!

Thanks for the advice, I wouldve gotten checked out had it continued, I was starting to get really worried!

Hopefully the next 1 won't be the same!
