Can this be alcohol-induced?

My dh went out drinking last night and is ill, with 3 bouts of vomiting in the last 3 hours. I don't think it's time to ring NHS direct yet - he's talking coherently and he says he has no abdominal pain.

Can alcohol abuse cause such severe vomiting? I haven't asked him how much he had, but he definitely drinks more than is healthy when he goes out, once or twice a week. As in 2 or 3 pints of vodka and coke. He doesn't seem drunk now. I am an emetophobe so of course I am panicking about him being contagious, as well as afraid for his health.

Yes it is entirely possible that he is being sick like that due to hangover.

Yes

yeah, get him to eat a banana

whittywan · 03/04/2010 09:21

yes - I second the banana proposal. Also a large glass of milk drunk slowly (if he can stomach it) I've always found that helps settle DH's vomiting if he's had too much.

Thank you for the quick responses!

He says he won't ever drink again, we'll see how long that lasts!

I am less panicked than before.
