Dont panic. If it is cystitis it could start to be uncomfortable soon when you need to pee. You will also start to feel as if you need to, but when you go there's only a very little. Best thing to do is get some "Cymalon" from a supermarket. Fairly cheap and it does work. Good to drink loads, but if you dont like water a well diluted squash would be fine too.

Tuesday is a long way off, so you will need to deal with this yourself probably.

Good luck.

Personally I think wednesday is too long to wait for this problem. I would call the surgery and ask to be seen today, even if they could just slot you in with the nurse to test a urine sample.

PositiveAttitude · 02/04/2010 12:41

CuoofCoffee - its Good Friday. No GPs surgergies will be open until Tuesday. (Monday is Bank holiday)

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 02/04/2010 12:50

It could also be a kidney stone. Are you in pain?

Have you been eating beatroot??

BuzzingNoise · 02/04/2010 12:53

Do a search for an NHS walk-in near you. I think you should be seen straight away.

loopylou6 · 02/04/2010 13:22

2nd the beetroot theory

Buzzybb · 02/04/2010 16:13

Wish it was beetroot , Just a few days away with DP [has to be right?]Did ring the nurse and speak to her as I have no pain she said water cranberry juice and cymalon. Am afraid to leave hse as am drinking so much liquid, dosent seem to be so bad now Can't believe my only option would be A&E NHS direct said as above go to hosp if I get worse or in pain.
Thanks guys was alone in the hse with a baby so no one to talk to

I think that if you were to wee blood tomorrow morning then you should be seen. Wee into a sample pot to take with you. Do you not have an out-of-hours GP service? If you go tomorrow and need prescription it will be easier to get than on Easter Sunday/BH Monday.
From personal experience of urine infections over 10 years (I have one now and am on antibiotics), I have never had blood in my urine.

Dh had a UTI once and his urine was bright red - almost pure blood. Dd went in the bathroom and she noticed the blood first and asked what it was - dh hadn't even realised! Like you, he had no pain, but had felt a bit off colour.

Typically, that was one bank holiday weekend so I took him to the NHS walk in centre. They prescribed him strong antibiotics as the urine sample showed a severe infection and told him if the bleeding continued to the next day he would need to go to A&E so they could do further tests.

Luckily, the antibiotics worked and the bleeding stopped. Please get yours checked out.

BikeRunSki · 02/04/2010 22:30

Do you have an NHS walk in clinic nearby? Like a GP but no need for appointment. My experience of them has been very good.

Buzzybb · 02/04/2010 22:44

thks guys if not ok in the morning I will def find an NHS walk in clinic / A&E.
Nurse was a bit dismissive on the ph so figured it was all ok. Am not in pain or feeling unwell and am not sure if I am imagining symptoms etc and have no one to take baba till then At least a better idea of what it maybe, In the meantime am drinking gallons of water and cranberry juice

Hi Belgianbun went to a walk in clinic this afternoon, was fine this morning except for pain when weeing they told me to buy over the counter meds take for two days and if not better go to GP on Monday I did point out it was a bank holiday so the reply was go tue or get an appt to come back to the clinic had to insist they take a urine sample [after all I had gone to boots and bought a sample pot]
So at the end of the day Mumsnet hero's are bettter then Dr's any day and I am trying not to vomit when I drink cymalon, cranberry juice and bottles of water On that I am very proud I managed 3 litres of liquid today
