DS is 13

This morning he came to me complaining or a stiff neck and cold feet, he then climbed into bed with me (unheard of)

He has a high temp, I've just sent out for a thermo as I've lost ours he's sleepy and has a rash on his neck.

Now I know it's time to panic you are thinking but. we have over the years had 2 major Menegitus scares one involving him being airlifted to hospital. Since then he sometimes get's that rash this is the reason I'm not off to A&E now but what if this time I don't go to A&E and it is Men C the thing is due to past scares and Lumbar punctures and ambulances ect even if I mention going to the hospital he freaks out.

I've given him paracetomol and he has perked a little since then.

so we have a high temp, cold feet stiff neck and a rash.

I know if I call nhs 24 they will send an ambulance.

what would you do?

he's just asked for something to eat that must be a good sign right?

DH say's he'll just have a cold stop worrying

Do u have a walk incentre u can take him to or even your gp? I would personally get him checked. My ds too has had a v bad meningitis scare and the lumbre puncture and bloods left their mark on him too, even screaming driving past our surgery!!!! However I think YOU will feel better if you take him at least somewhereto get him looked at. Chances are it's nothing but my opinion is they are too precious to gamble with. Good luck

37.4 isnt a fever, what was his temp before?

Does he have an aversion to light / sore head?

I think I would call teh doc or got to these walk in centres everyone talks about (we dont have any here)

Better safe than sorry and all that.

He perked up and went to play his xbox I've just went into check on him and he's asleep but his temp is 38.7 the rash isn't any worse.

does anyone know how quickly the rash develops if it is something to worry about ?

I don't know, sorry. Does the rash fade? I would personally get him seen.

winnybella · 01/04/2010 19:42

Did you do the tumbler test? Does the rash fade when you press the glass against it?

Carlita2010 · 01/04/2010 22:34

His temp shot up to 40 so it was NHS 24 and a 999 ambulance

he has tonsillitis and is now sleeping soundly back at home thankfully

Glad it's just that.
I mean, poor kid, but he'll get better very quickly with the ABs.
