I dont think I have ever been tested for this but for over 20 years I have suffered with throat problems with flares of feeling terribly ill.

Today, I feel dreadful, aching all over, feels like flu but its not.

I know it'll pass within a couple of days but it comes and goes sort of monthly.

I was thinking of asking for a blood test.

ANyone have experience or had the test and came back negative.

Do you mean Epstein Barr???
no experience, but you may get more responses

Yes I suffered from this when I was younger and was ill for a few years with it, then it faded but became post viral fatigue, or chronic fatigue syndrome/ME. I am sure that they can test for antibodies in your blood, something does show up when it is there.
worth getting to the Dr's just to be checked out and hopefully then can treat you? I eventually grew out of it (somehow? don't know how) and before I had epstein barr I had several bouts of tonsillitus etc every single year, noone would take my tonsils out and one Dr even said they had been eaten away by the amount of throat problems I had. I don't really have any wise words of advice, but rest rest rest and lots of fluids. try to look after yourself and don't become stressed - easier said than done, I know.
Best of Luck

Epstein Barr is like glandular fever.

It should not go on for 20 years- I had it at age 27 and it took a year to feel well again, 100%.

Maybe you should ask for a referral to an ENT dr and have your tonsils etc checked out.

Yes, you can see how rough I felt earlier didnt spell it right at all.

Doesnt EBV stay in your body for life? And flare up on occassions.

I know I had a nasty virus when I was 9/10 yrs old and have always suffered with bouts of tonsilutus, throat etc. But never remember having the test done.

I did also suffer from CFS from 27yrs old but a lot better now.

I saw an ENT cons a few years ago he looked in my mouth said it looked well and that was it (for £100!)he didnt even ask me about my history.

I'm fed up of moaning every few weeks with throat, ill feeling and looking crap.

bacon please get yourself to the Docs to get a blood test, or at least some advice. It's not good to be feeling so bad for a long time, its very wearing. Good luck x
