Hi anyone got any ideas to help with my latest flare up? I have had flu-like symptoms for over a week, and I am weary. The arthritis is worse that my skin, I'm aching all over and stiff as a board.

I'm taking prescribed painkillers, using Nut Med, Epsom Salt baths, have cut down on bread and am trying with dairy.

Really I want a magic wand to wave as I am so, so very tired and I feel really poorly.

I know I can read up on t'int, but I would like some real life advice please.

PS I have sinusitis too, to add to my misery!

it is truely horrible when it flares isn't it people don't realise the general unwellness/exhaustion you get with it. It has been a long bad winter

The only thing I have found that helps is to rest as much as you can. Be kind to yourself, take short cuts when you can. Don't try and fight through it.

Are you on anti-inflamms? Its important to take them regularly even when the pain isn't so bad.

I have found that my osteo can help with the seized up muscles that happen around inflammed joints. Might be worth looking into that.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for replying,am feeling so sorry for myself. I am really busy at work over the next couple of weeks so the timing could not be worse.
I am also interested in becoming more politically active but find after work I'm exhausted.
I haven't been taking anti-inflamms regularly, but I'll sort that today.
The sinusitis is making feel as though my brain isn't working and then I'm aching and itching too.
Hve you found any benefits from supplements or other treaments?
I do find that no-one really understands the effects if you are determined to crack on with life.

I've found that even some of my closest friends don't actually realise the impact.

It is terrible timing for getting involved in politics! normally by now I'm massively better and able to get involved. This year, I'm just having to delete the emails asking for people to go canvassing and delivering.

How long have you had the sinusitus? It could be that making you flare badly, particularly if there is a bacterial infection. Have you spoken to your gp? I know they are reluctant to give antibiotics but there have been times when I've said 'I think that this infection is making me flare' and they have given me them to a really good effect.

Supplements wise. Not really. Worth taking a general multi-vit. I've tried star-flower, cod liver oil, glucosamine.

turmeric is supposed to be an anti-inflammatory. link might be worth a shot. (didn't realise you can get it in capsules until I saw that as is garlic. I've tried the odd curry

Itching wise - what kind of psoriasis do you have? Is it guttate? that is strongly associated with infections. Lots of aqueous cream and aveeno in the bath (oilatum makes me itchier) You can also ask your gp for an anti-histamine to help with that.

Sorry I haven't been back, I did a sinus massage & wash and then felt as though my head was exploding with pain. About 30 mins later I was violently sick.
I was sick again & then got in the bath with hot clothes on my head.
I've slept until now, feeling quite disorientated & spacy.
I'm going to read some trash, should be Wolf Hall but I'll only have to reread with a fully functioning brain.

So today it's been mostly sinus pain, I wonder what tomorrow will bring??

OYBBK, thank you for your advice, I feel as thoough I must soldier on & bite the bullet when I know that's not the right answer. My mother's influence! (I did call for her earlier, even though she died last year

I'll try Aveeno, oiliatum too drying for me.
I use Alva Natural Soothe it www.alvanatural.co.uk/sootheit.htm.
It's the only thing that eases my skin.

I'm just planning to get through til the weekend, though I am hoping to see Age of Stupid tomorrow. Just font know if I can face a 10 hour day then a film & meeting new people. Alsoa Green Party meeting on Thursday, I am exploring my options & said mother must be spinning!!

Take care I hope you have a good night,
Blesssings, EM

I'm sorry you were so sick, I hope that will turn the corner for you. Have a good night too

EM can your rheumatologist sort out both with any immunosuppressants if it is so bad. Try diprobase ointment for your skin or Aveeno as the oatmeal can help stop the itching. Have you got the pitting of the nails with the psoriatic arthropathy and is it worse with stress. Sorry so many questions...used to work in dermatology a few years ago.

I need to be more proactive, by asking for more support from doctors. I feel lots better today, thanks for your support.
I've been sinus massaging, some self-reflexology and Reiki plus drugs.
I've also cut back on wheat and dairy though I'm gutted as I have Yeo Organic Yoghurt in the fridge.
Each day as it comes, though I do feel better for knowing I'm not the only MN sufferer
