can i self certify or do i need a doctors' line?

i work monday, wednesday and friday.

i worked monday of last week and then took a stomach bug so havent been in since. i am going back into work tomorrow.

does the absence start on the tuesday or the wednesday and do weekends count as days of absence (i have been told they do)?

I would think that the absence would start on the wednesday as that was the first day you missed, not sure that weekends count but in my job you need a cert for 3 days or more, so missing wed to mon would def need one.
