The disaster of insurance-based healthcare

We must NEVER EVER in this country have compulsory insurance-based healthcare. Insurance companies have no interest whatsoever in providing healthcare - for the third time in 20 years I have tried to claim on a medical insurance policy and every time they try every little possible wheeze to avoid paying and to make the whole process as complicated as possible to avoid paying. VIVA NHS!

Hear hear I was a claims assessor for a PMI co for many years. PMI has it's place, but would be a disaster if it was the only option.

Absolutely agree. I have family in America who are amazed how we can just go to the doctor's and if we need something done it is just a case of (in most cases) go to hospital and get it sorted, and not an issue with whether our insurance will cover the treatment. I sometimes think we don't realise how great the NHS system is compared to the rest of the world.
